I've loved the GHS black tapes for years. By far my favorites...they're just a very well balanced set.The re-released set may be even better than the original, as the G String always seemed a little thin and required a lighter touch to match the rest. With the new set, that was the first thing I noticed--that the G string now responds very evenly with the others.Bravo. Five stars, GHS. Thanks!!!

The red-threaded ends of these strings became frayed and made it almost impossible to tune. The threading provides friction for the tuners as they wind. As the ends of the strings became frayed and unwound, the metal on metal contact between the tuner and the bare string had almost no friction. The tuner would spin and the string would slip. I had to use electrical tape to get some friction back on two of my strings, but it's not a permanent fix.

Nice sounding strings. I bought them for my bass which sounded a little "harsh" for me, in other words more for heavy rock and metal in my opinion. After putting these strings on the sound got more smooth for the jazz, world beat and R&B I like to play. Also helps eliminate string "buzz". The feel is also easier on the fingers too. I really like these strings and these are among my favorites.

thicker woody sound more akin to upright, not very bright, but sound great. These are also ideal if you are getting back into practicing as they are softer on your fingers. Imagine heatshrink on top of roundwounds, that is basically what they are. they look cool too, if that matters.

these were my second attempt at tapewounds for my Fender Jazz, as D'Addario ETB92-5 simply didn't fit through my bass's body.These GHS strings fit perfectly.No problems getting them through the body's passage way into the bridge (my Fender is a thread-from-behind-the-body style).Nice warm tone, looking forward to hearing how these are mixed in with the band.
