They don’t intonate properly on a standard archtop bridge. They might work on a tunomatic bridge. They also have a very rough feeling, more so than even roundwounds. The sound is actually worse than standard flatwounds if you’re using this acoustically. Hard pass

The strings I received in the package were NOT flat-wounds, appeared old and dull and were, if not really rusty, at least crusty. Very disappointed with these strings. The old round-wounds I replaced felt smoother and sounded better. Have asked for a replacement set that are new flat-wounds or a refund. Time will tell…

The smooth silky feel of Flatwound Strings without a stainless steel wrap. Instead a Special Alloy Wrap that has that special sound within! And a Bonus, the Alloy Wrap won't Eat up your Frets like S/S does!My new Flatwound Strings!PS: GHS FW is Better than the new EB FW.

On my hollow body archtop, I had recently tried moving up from a 12s flat wound to a 13. It was too difficult for me to play. So I had, in my box of strings both Brite Flats 11s (with a wound 3rd) and 12s. I was overall really happy with the sound of the 11s (will eventually try the 12s also. They are smooth to the touch (no squeaks) and while they are more lively than flat wounds (that sometimes sound dull and lifeless) they also sound louder (yes - that's very subjective) as they claim. I tend to shy away from bright-sounding strings - but these are not overly bright for jazz applications - even when new out of the package. The price is great - compared to Thomastiks.

These are my favorites after a lot of trials. They don't offer any frills but give a consistent tone no noise and inox. Very soft to play so you can get +12 right away. This makes for smooth tone.

These are excellent strings. I play flat-wounds on all my guitars, including my solid-bodies. I wanted to go to a lighter gauge string and get more treble on a Tele while still enjoying the feel of flats. These strings preserve the feel of flats while definitely projecting more treble and twang. They are slightly rougher on finger tips than chromes, but they still feel flat as I prefer. Perfect for me on solid body guitars.

Best bright flatwound strings I have tried yet on my hollow body guitar.Sparking trebles and woody basses. Great for jazz and rockabilly chicken picking.

I use these strings on my jazz guitar and my tenor banjo as well. Very comfortable literally noiseless under the fret fingers. They may not be intended for a banjo but they don't seem to mind and work just as well on both instruments.
