It works and it's good soldering practice. I had a cheap led remote which worked fine with the kit. Maybe a bit overpriced for what you get.

Easy to put together. Standby current is 3ma and will drain a 9v battery in a little over week so pull the battery if your not using it a lot. It responds well to all the remotes I've tried. Not super bright but its usable.
