Very handy to have and keep near the tap & die sets so that you can find out what thread you need before opening the kits to find out that you don't own the tap for that particular thread.

Was hoping to use these to identify pipe treads as some skids being sent to site have BSPP threads, we use NPT here. I hold the 11G and 11 together and I was thinking there should be a a difference in the thread angle, they look identical. Tried both 14G and 14 on a 1/2" NPT fitting, both fit in my opinion, perfectly.So I'm lost and confused! I rate it 3 because it has to be something I'm missing or don't understand.

For the money it is perfectly fine for identifying standard, metric, and British, fine and coarse threads. All of the retaining nuts had to be tightened upon arrival. One of them does not thread properly, so it is perpetually loose. Because this isn't a heavy duty application, the product is suitable for identifying threads. I like that it comes with a plastic storage case.

I used to work in metal stamping QC. This is inexpensive tool that will be satisfactory for nearly 100% of usual machine shop needs.Reducing the rating because smallest gauges, like for metric pitch .25 mm are poorly cut. Nor sure if I will ever need to use it thus not that important.The plastic storage box is definitely convenient.
