there are splices - unsure why one would not just take a piece of cowhide, and cut it the width you want until you reach the centre - instead they took pieces, cut them at an angle and spliced them together. so if you get a section the right length without a splice - you can use it for a shoestring.if anyone finds a good quality one, please let me know know.

This actually seems like plastic instead of leather and it broke when pulling on it trying to re-lace a pair of boots. You actually pull this stuff apart with you hands.

This leather string is a bunch of small pieces spliced together with non waterproof glue. Soak it and pull just slightly and it falls apart. See how many ends you can find in the picture from a 10 yard roll.

The color is a beautiful red/brown. Finish is smooth and precise. Just what I was looking for to make bracelets.
