So, this is actually the second Gobe CPL 2 peak I've bought. I got my first one and accidentally broke it by dropping it off a balcony while changing lenses. Shattered glass, bent frame, whole 9 yards. That said, I have no expectation that it'd survive that fall. Very few things would, truthfully. Any who, I quickly bought a new one as I was taking a trip to Alaska and of course wanted to do lots of photography. Big shocker...I typically do landscape photos of mountains and just generally harsh terrain. Conditions can be rough. My gear is all hardened and sealed and for the price, I assumed the Gobe filters were up to it.LOL NO.So in typical Alaska fashion, it was somewhere between humid and rainy a lot of the time. I was regularly removing the filter, drying things out, and reattaching. Now, being a threaded filter, you do have to be careful, so I am mindful to not overtighten it when using it. I expect my gear to stand up to abuse, but I don't intentionally put it through unnecessary abuse by being sloppy. However, things took a turn when I found that moisture was getting between the two circular elements in the filter itself. Despite all my best efforts, I couldn't dry them out....but that became even less of an issue once the bigger issue arose: The filter could not be removed from my lens. Under normal circumstances, this would suck. But these weren't normal circumstances....I was on a boat in Glacier Bay, taking photos in a once-in-a-blue moon opportunity, and I've got a foggy filter that I can't get off my lens. It took myself and my wife nearly 30 minutes to finally get the filter off....and naturally, in that time, the opportunity had passed. Suffice to say, I'm in the market for a new filter because I'm not risking that again. At the end of the day, if you're just taking photos in pretty controlled or reasonable environments, or can afford some hiccups...Gobe is fine. It's a mid-tier CPL at best, but generally does what it's advertised as doing. But if you need a high quality CPL that isn't going to be a failure point in your system....look elsewhere. Not a reliable product.

We use these for our industrial inspection cameras. We need to get rid of reflections on shinny surfaces. This worked great.

This works great on my camera and will purchase more from this company. They plant trees for your purchase and that makes them awesome.

I do HDR photography (high dynamic range). Up to 9 RAW photos "stacked" on each other to create all the drama of dark shadows and detail of well lit areas. This filter removes the glare on water and makes clouds seem alive. Gobe filters are a must in my photo kit. Also, kudos to the designers of the filter carrying canister. Virtually impervious to external damage. Worth every cent. The planting of 5 trees is over-the-top. Well done guys!

This Gobe CPL 67mm Polarizer filter came packaged in an airtight film can. The can offers good protection of the lens filter while it is in my camera bag. The polarizing effect works GREAT! I go to this filter every time when conditions allow and now come up with quality color rich photos.

Filter is top notch and very well made, rotating smoothly. Packaging is very good too and protects the filter when carrying in the field. Great value for money

This is for the 58mm Gobe CPL MRC16L,. Most important is the quality of the filter. The big concern is that lower priced filters often degrade the quality of the image. I have attached some comparison photos that I took which are labeled so you can compare with filter and without filter. The close-up images are at 100% or 1 pixel to 1 pixel when you click on them to enlarge them. Nothing was done to alter them in post processing. You will note that the f stop was adjusted in camera about 1 2/3 stops to compensate for the exposure factor of the filter. I saw almost no difference in the clarity of the photos with the filter or without, and what there was may be partially attributable to the difference in the f stop and/or human factors in selecting the focus spot. These were shot on daylight white balance setting, and there does appear to be an almost indiscernible yellow cast on the white fence in the photos with the speed limit sign and white fence. In my case, I normally shoot in RAW and Auto White Balance and then if any correction is needed in post I take care of it there. The sky photos show that the filter does give some darkening on the left side of the image which is closer to the 90 degree angle from the sun, which is the way CPL filters work. The closer to perpendicular you are to the angle of the sun the more darkening you will get. The filter threads were smooth and clean and mounted easily. You do need to tighten it on a little bit because there is a bit of friction as you adjust the polarization, but that is good. Just be careful not to over tighten the filter onto the lens. In my opinion this filter is a very good value for the money. It is not the thinnest filter I have, but it did not give me any vignetting on my cropped sensor 18mm (Equivalent to 27mm on full frame) The packaging is great, though slightly bulky and they have planted five more trees because of my purchase. I have filters that cost more than twice as much that do not do any better job than this. I will probably buy more Gobe filters in the future and would clearly recommend them especially if you are on a budget. The reason for the 4 stars is because of the slight yellowing that I mentioned, and it should be about 4.8 but I only give 5 stars on complete perfection.

Great Circular Polar for my Tamron 28-75mm f2.8 A036 Sony Emount lens. Can’t tell much of a difference from my 82mm B+W Polarizer which I’ve been using with step down ring. Little to no color shift. The Multi coating on both sides of glass work extremely well at reducing ghosting and flares unlike the Tiffen Pola Filter I returned which had awful flaring since the multicoat layers were all but invisible. They reflected light from the front element back into the sensor like a mirror. I highly recommend this Circular Polarizer from Gobe.

(Text translated from my German version from Amazon Germany)I am an long standing HOYA-/B&W/Nikon-Filter user and fan. Never even thought of using anything else than these established brands. Only the fact that a load of filters I needed were not in stock brought around the situation for me, having to ‘’look around’’.Then, stumbling over this idea of ‘’buy filters- PLANT TREES’’- I had a good look at these GOBE-Filters – main thought in my head at the time was ‘’ well, if it’s rubbish I can always send them back’’….I ordered UV/C-POL and Flex-ND filters for various lenses – both from Amazon Germany and Amazon UK. Wanted to experiment. They were delivered fast and perfectly packaged. Looking at the Invoice I do have to say: wow – loads of money saved compared to what I am used to when I buy my Hoyas etc. – loads of brownie points with my wife this time round!Packaging is perfect, strong plastic filter box packed in an brown recycled cardboard cover. Inside of filter box is foam, very dense and holding the filter in place very firmly. I recommend that HOYA and the other ‘’big ones’’ have a very long look at this – and learn – since most of their filters are at times loose inside the filter box and can move around. There will be people criticising the rather obvious fact, that the plastic filter box can be a bit fiddly to open – I myself say: my filters are very safe, no filters falling out of badly closing containers and floating around my bag. These filter boxes are also extremely dust-proof. Highlight: every filter comes with an optical cloth – Hoya, Hoya Professional, B&W, Nikon and the others – hardly ever - at least not with mine. The filters have a vry slim build, but are I their mechanical make-up very accurate, surprisingly sturdy and fit into all threads of all my lenses ( metal and plastic threads ) without any hiccup. Glas rests neatly in the ring, no wobbling or clattering. The quality of the Glass seems fine and even the C-Pol’s do what they are designed to do. Although the filters have a very slim build, they do actually give an impression of reinforcing the (dodgy?) plastic threads of some lenses quite considerably. Fit is snug and perfect ( not always the case with all my various filters on modern lenses with plastic threads). The very flat/slim build of these filters can be a plusWe made a few technical comparisons with my Hoya’s, B&W’s etc.The Filter ring’s are thicker and heavier, which does not have to be good or bad. The optical comparison right up to print size of 50x70cm does not reveal any noticeable variations even if I try hard to find a fly in the ointment. I can not confirm any quality issues in comparison ti the known brands – even though this was expected and even ‘’hoped for ‘’ since we all are so loyal to our brands and hate to stray…. The usual thinking pattern of ‘’if it is cheap or reasonable it has to be is of inferior quality’ ’has – in this case – just gone out of the window and we really have to rethink that ‘’baloney’’ – myself first ,since I am right up there with ‘’them’’ thinking that way.Super! Up to here everything seems just perfect. I have no idea how GOBE do this, but to deliver such a quality and perfect packaging fur such ‘’small money’’ and then on top of that plant a load of trees in Madagaskar – I pull my hat in respect– this is the moment me old grumbling Brand-Nutter has to shut it and get on with it!I have now checked through the sizes from 77 down to 52mmand can not find any issues for daily use. I have been reading about grey and colour variations – I can not confirm any of this with even a single one of my 15 Filters I now own – absolutely nothing – even if I try hard ( which I tend to do). There seem to be issues with the C-POL filters not delivering – I honestly believe that these complaints are User based mistakes which can happen easily, since working with C-Pol’s is not always as straight forward as one would wish. Working C-Pol’s can be a challenge at the best of times, all down to situation and lenses used.Looking at the ‘’value for money’’ aspect of these GOBE filters they clearly outrun all the others – top position. When I look at the sums of money I have spent on all the big brands ( of which I really cannot see visibly quality differences to GOBE) I get a serious ‘’twinge’’ in my stomach and my circulation has a quick ‘’hiccup’’ ….I am not ‘’green’’ – by no means. But this concept, the idea of planting trees all over the place has touched me somewhat. Makes perfect sense, cannot be wrong and gives me a positive feeling – perhaps even soothes the ‘’whinges of my bad conscience’’ somewhere in the background – a little….It seems that a colleague within our PR – League has had a brilliant idea and has set it up just right. Well done, a very complete and round package.Summing things up: no minus points, all just right ‘’up there’’, absolutely NO REASON TO NOT PROFIT OF THIS PRODUCT – I recommend GOBE fully. But, should you still have this little voice in your head ‘’cheap, unknown brand, grumble, is this really good stuff, mumble’’ then get the SCHOTT Versions of the GOBE filters. We now are talking different league – Schott can easily be compared with Swarovski, Zeiss and Leitz – I know Schott from medical devices and astronomical use. In direct comparison to Schott the Hoya’s, B&W’s and even the Nikon’s could be in trouble – not much, but just that little bit!And even then the GOBE filter are a bargain!I have learnt a lot and am very happy with my GOBE’sRecommended, get’ em, plant trees.......
