I’m a blind photographer, partnered with my deaf videographer friend. Together, we shoot pet weddings — and I’m talking full ceremony, tuxedo-wearing ferrets walking down the aisle to a harmonica solo kind of serious. We rely on intuition, muscle memory, vibrations, and yes — gear we can trust without seeing or hearing it work. The Godox iA32 flash is one of those rare tools that just does what it’s supposed to do… no drama, no guesswork. We don't use TTL — and thankfully, neither does this flash. It’s fully manual, which is how we like it. I’ve memorized the dial clicks for power output, and once it’s set, it holds steady. Whether I’m capturing the exact moment a golden retriever kisses his schnauzer bride, or lighting up a reception dance floor full of cats in bow ties — it just works. The compact design is a blessing. We carry gear strapped to us like a SWAT team and every ounce matters. This flash? Lightweight, low-profile, easy to angle, and doesn’t snag on my harness when I crouch for a low-angle terrier shot.It runs on AA batteries — super convenient, and easy to swap by touch. We get hundreds of pops before needing a new set. Our battery strategy is simple: change every ceremony, no surprises.Functionality-wise? Spot on. From bounce lighting over tiny cake tables to direct flash for freeze-frame dog zoomies, it delivers predictable, usable light. The S1/S2 optical slave modes are also a nice bonus — my partner can trigger it with a synced light cue, which we set up silently.Value for money? Huge. It's an affordable flash that doesn't feel cheap. It's tough, intuitive, and reliable — and in our line of work, that's everything. For a duo navigating the world without sight or sound, the Godox iA32 keeps up with us and the chaos of pets saying “I do.” It’s not fancy, it’s not flashy… but it’s exactly what we need.We may not see the light — but we definitely feel it.

You get a lot of value with this flash. It works with most cameras that have a hot shoe contact in the center of the hot shoe mount. This flash does not communicate with the TTL meter in your camera. In automatic mode, you enter the ISO you are shooting at and the aperture you have set on the camera. The flash will display the minimum and maximum distance it can provide suitable light. The guide number of 15 meters at ISO 100. For those unfamiliar with guide numbers, you divide the guide number by the distance to the subject, and use the result as your aperture. For example, if you are five meters from your subject, 15/5=3, so you would set the aperture to f/3, or on most lenses, f/2.8.

Review for: "GODOX iA32 Camera Flash, Mini Flash Speedlite with 8 Levels Power Output, Approx.490 Full Power Flashes, S1/S2 Optical Control, Single Contact Hot Shoe, for Canon Sony Nikon Fuji Olympus Cameras "I have Nikon and Sony camera platform, and have lots of flash mostly from Godox and Neewer (in addition to the very expensive Nikon and Sony flash). There are times that I need a very basic flash in a very compact form factor. This Godox iA32 fits the bill perfectly. It is very compact, powered by 2 AA batteries and very simple to operate.I test it with my old Nikon D3S camera for fill in flash and it works like charm. When I set it in manual mode it burst a constant amount of lighting which very good.It also have bouncing capability by means of rotating the head flash vertically.I don't try it in multi flash scenario, because for that purpose I am using Godox ecosystem that allow all flash to communicate by means of a transmitter trigger group. So, for my use case this little thing have a use case and become handy on my camera bag.For the asking price of $49.90, it is a good deal for the quality.

The Godox iA32 flash unit arrived in a well packaged box, with a cloth pouch and a user manual that provides clear instructions for operation. This is my third flash unit from Godox. It features a retro design and is ideal for cameras lacking a built-in flash. As a universal flash with a single pin, it does not support TTL, which means it should be compatible with most cameras that have a shoe with a center pin.Weighing 117g without batteries, the flash unit is 10g lighter and larger than my Nikon SB-400 flash unit, although heavier than the Godox iM20 and iM30. It requires two AA batteries, bringing the total weight to approximately 180g with batteries. I would prefer a rechargeable internal battery like the one in my Ulanzi F32 flash unit. It would have been easy to charge it on the go instead of carrying a bunch of AA batteries and its charger. With fully charged batteries, the recycle time at full power is about 2.5 seconds. At lower power level, recycle is pretty quick. I use eneloop rechargeable batteries, and the recycle time decreases when the flash is set to lower power levels, not suited for rapid burst shooting. The full output power matches that of the Godox iM30 and exceeds the ultra-compact iM20 flash unit. Flash power can be adjusted in 1/3 increments from 1/128 to 1/1. In auto flash mode, you can set the ISO and aperture, allowing the flash unit to adjust the power accordingly. This mode also displays the subject distance range for the settings, which is detailed in the user manual. This compact flash unit is a useful addition to any camera bag. The flash head can be angled from minus seven degrees to 90 degrees, allowing for light to be bounced off ceilings or nearby walls to soften the light on the subject. It does not offer lateral swivel.I have successfully tested this flash with my Nikon DSLR and mirrorless cameras, as well as my Canon RF and Sony crop sensor mirrorless cameras. It features a remote sensor, enabling it to function as a secondary flash triggered by a built-in flash or another flash unit. I've triggered it using my iM20 unit in S1 mode and my SB-400 flash in S2 mode.I have been using this flash primarily for bouncing light off ceilings or side walls, as I prefer to avoid the harsh look of direct flash. Its lightweight design makes it a convenient alternative to heavier flash units on compact cameras when high output power isn't needed. So, I am using this on my Sony and Canon RF crop sensor compact cameras. On my Nikon DSLR and Z cameras, I will continue to use the compact SB-400 flash unit. Many of the pictures that I have shot so far during evening hours in ambient lighting conditions, the flash power setting was 1/32. See couple of plant images, one with no flash and other with light bounced off the wall.If you're comfortable with manually adjusting flash power and are looking for something a little more powerful than built-in flash, yet compact and capable of bounce lighting, the Godox iA32 is definitely worth considering. It's a flash unit from Godox, a reliable brand that makes many flash units, at a reasonable price that could be a solid addition to your kit.
