Edit 4/30/25: Seller reached out and offered to amend the issue. Also took advice and suggestions on how to improve the item. Originally 1 star but giving 2 stars for effort. The lever tab pierced the top of the can below the lip it was supposed to grab onto, and the seal didn't properly close the gap. Refrigerant leaked everywhere, and I had to dispose of the can and this item. Got what I paid for I suppose.

Seems to work okay but is a bit wonky to use. I also purchased a side can tap which feels more secure and has a better seal.

This product does not work with Igloo/Dupont R12 cans. When you thread the piercing nut down to get a seal, the threading nut bottoms out before it seals against the top of the can. It creates the impression there is a seal because it has jammed against the thread limits. If you pierce the can, YOU WILL LOOSE ALL YOUR R12 FREON at $35-$50 a can. There is a similar can tap bundled with a guage and hose that does work. It allows the can tap to be tightened down against the surface of the can. This bundled kit can be found under "Recharge Hose with 2.75" Gauge, Removable Universal Freon Can Tap,......................................" It would be really helpful for the lay person to have some simple instructions because it's not intuatively obvious how these taps work(or don't work).
