I had to modify this with some gentle bending on a vise to get it to work on a Reiter banjo with a 12 inch pot, I think that the radius is probably designed for an 11 inch pot but it's working well after modifying.good value.

This is as well made Asian copy of the type of armrest used by the Vega company. Vega banjos had 24 to 28 brackets and varied pot sizes from about 10 1/2 inches to almost 12 inches in diameter. In contrast to the Mastertone type of armrest for a bluegrass banjo which clamps to the hooks and depends on a specific spacing between two hooks to fit right, this armrest is held in place by hooks which run through slots on the side of the armrest and presses it against the side of the stretcher band. It is specifically designed this way in order to accommodate various bracket spacing so I am a little puzzled by the reviewers who have had trouble attaching it to their banjos. The armrest is relatively small and just keeps your arm off the head rather than providing a flat landing for your forearm, so some might find it less comfortable. However I have used it on several types of open-back banjos (Vega tubaphones and a Bacon FF banjo) without having to modify the armrest or attach it to the banjo by anything other than a pair of appropriately spaced hooks.

I installed this on my banjo tonight and it required modifying two of the hooks on my banjo. It is not a simple loosen the nuts, slip it in, and tighten the nuts procedure. I modified two hooks by cutting off 3/16 inch of thread and then turning the hooks to face outward through the slots in the armrest. These two hooks then do not rest on the rim, but just hold the armrest on. The armrest exerts the pressure on the rim instead of the two modified hooks. You'll need the tools to shorten the hooks. There is an archived thread on the Banjo Hangout dealing with other possible ways to attach this Golden Gate P-101 to your banjo. Dave

It can be easily mounted and performs well. It does not have much on which to rest your hand but manages well to keep your hand off the top.

The skin on my forearm is growing back now thanks to this little guy. Fits my Goodtime II no problem.

Read the questions section to determine if this would fit a dearing good time. After reading several answers saying "yes " I purchased. I got it today and the fit is not even close.

I got this for a used Deering Goodtime banjo I bought... it kinda fits it but not exactly. It's not angled quite the same as the banjo head clamps are, but it does the job and looks like it belongs on it. It might be possible to make it fit better with some well-placed bends, but it still works as is. It's held on with zip ties. The price was right and it does the job, so overall, not a bad purchase.

I used it on my SS Stewart American Princess banjo and it fit perfectly. I uses plastic ties to attach to banjo head. Inexpensive and effective. I recommend this product.
