This is the first 2 weeks of operation in our house; replacing an FSPI "SafetySiren Pro Series 3", which recently started malfunctioning, or indicating it was at 'end of useful life'. I could not get reply from FSPI to properly diagnose its problem nor find online support for it on their own website. This GQ RadonPro is the equivalent of the FSPI Series 4 unit, which is now only available in CANADA, it seems. It has MUCH BETTER functionality and better online and PDF user manual support and includes Geiger-Mueller Counter function, since Radon detection is by the 'Geiger Counter' function, anyway.Out Of The Box set-up is as simple as plugging in the USB power cord into the unit and into the power brick and let it 'do its thing'... Yeah; that simple. The information display is clear and crisp and intuitive and modifiable, and you do NOT have to modify it. Unless you want, at least, the date and time inputted to the unit. Even if you DO NOT, it will display hourly, daily, weekly and longterm data by pressing the left-most button. Some folks will appreciate the "Home Automation" look of the white tower cube, but I'm all good with klunky functional, like the Pro Series 3.The FIRST action you need to take is to get to their website and download the USER MANUAL. That is stated on the first page of the Quick Start Guide included in the box. PRINT it out and start digging into it to make this product MORE USEFUL to you. Whether it's just tailoring the Units of Measure that the G-M Counter displays and setting the date and time.IF you want to dig into and further tailor this unit to your needs, to upload readings to create a data record, or to access the information from your unit from your cellphone, you need to dig into the User Manual and here the company is LACKING in CLARITY of steps and functions, IMO, as I'm drilling through this, again, after the unit FAILED to connect to my house WiFi system, and the "GMCmap.com" cellphone or computer software did not function on my cellphone, only my computer.WARNING - Further set-up is 'more involved and a bit kludgy'.This unit has a rudimentary Fortran/Cobal (my term) GUI and four buttons to navigate within its menu. It is not exactly intuitive. When you have to INPUT alpha&numeric&characters, it sucks. It's pidgeon-pecking through a linear presentation of those characters. There is NO 'keyboard' to move with cursor to select them, like you would with Netflix, or other 'onscreen' "button-limited" control set-ups. THIS SUCKS.Another 'DING' to the usability of the 'customer support matrix' is that the GQ company drives you to their 'Support Forum'. That is just a NON-helpful option for ordinary users; you have to WANT to be a TECH GEEK, like me, to want to even 'dip your toe' in there. So, I have contacted the company, trying to get better directions about how to link this unit to their GMCmap and to my cellphone. I will update about their CS capabilities and helpfulness, after they do or do not contact me....The images and pictures offered on Amazon and on their own GQelectronicsLLC.com website are helpful and accurate.

I don’t leave many reviews, but I figured I should let people know to save them the time. I purchased two of these items. The first one would read radon levels of the max readable limit of 199.99 pCi/L. It didn’t matter if I plugged it in at my home, office or outside. The replacement read radon levels under 1 pCi/L. Both were returned. For context, both other radon detectors in my house register within 1 pCi/L of each other, and these two units were way off. Both were sent back.

This product gave a 0.36pcl radon reading, both indoors and outside, I knew the indoor reading was wrong and verified against two other detectors that registered between 2.8 and 3.1 ish.I contacted customer support and their response was that the unit was correct!Unit was returned for credit...

This is a neat instrument and seems to work properly. My gripe is that it has to be plugged in to work so you can't move room to room.

See Update Below:My old meter went kaput so bought a couple new ones. The first one took a very long time to get a reading so I thought I would get this one since it is dual purpose. At first they seemed pretty close then this one started jumping high and setting off alarms,. I tried resetting, moving to another location still reading high. Other unit reading 1.0 this one 5.0. House had a professional mitigation done with venting above roof. So I know it is under2 PCLI may later order another one to see if it is better. I like the features but this one is just not right.UPDATE: I decided to order another one to see if it worked better. It did! Resuts now appear accurate on both Radon as well as Radiation. Not sure what was wrong with the one I sent back.I wish the power jack was at the bottom not the top, also wish the display was on the side not the top. The programming buttons are a bit touchy, this was the same as the first one where the buttons sometimes double or exit the menu when programming.I do like the Color at a glance, green/yellow/red so you can see that at a distance.

Very clean look and feel. Lighter than expected. Setup is not very clear but makes sense once you're done. Compaired to a Corentium 223 that has been running for several years it is quite close, 0.18pCi/L difference on the DAILY compared to the 1 Day reading, 0.24pCi/L difference on the WEEKLY compared to the 7 Day reading. Both values are less than 3pCi/L GMCMap app and web page has gone down a few times in the past week. Your readings area displayed for all that use the app or webpage to view. Readings are uploaded every 5min. Background radiation levels appear to be inline with most others displayed. The USB C power jack is at the top so with the light weight and pointing out the back on the top gives it the feel that it could easily be tipped over. Losing power for a short time (less than a minute is all I tested) does not cause the loss of data.

Works very well. Solid construction and easy to hear alarms as well as easy to read visual indicators. User UI is straight forward and the included user manual is easy to read and worded well.
