This review is long overdue. As a devout antenna collector, I picked up this antenna originally when I purchased my Kenwood TH-D75 last year and was looking for something packable and with high performance. My Gabil super-elastic antenna fits the bill.I've successfully transmitted over 49 miles with this antenna, from the 14th floor of a hotel in LA to a repeater on Santa Catalina island. I've traveled all over California with this antenna for work, and it has done a great job with a wide variety of modes: from D-STAR and FM, to APRS and packet data (both BBS's and Winlink). I've even used it for successful APRS/ARISS passes with the International Space Station. You'll be interested to know it does a great job on 2 meters and 70 centimeters, and I've even listened to AM aircraft bands from LAX, both on arrival and at the tower. It has worked great for AM aircraft bands as well.I find it very easy to tie up and stow in a travel case in my laptop bag, and the paint and connectors don't show any wear in almost a year of frequent use. This is a high quality antenna and I'm happy with my purchase. I'm looking forward to adding a few more to my collection. If you're listening Gabil, I'd love a few more colors to choose from!

I bought this for my Yaesu VX8DR. This is a 4 band ham radio handheld. The rig only puts out about 5 watts so this was a good choice. When I bought it, wasn't so sure this would work out very well since I've bought several other antennas for handhelds that were complete garbage ... falling apart shortly after purchasing them. I won't know how well this will last for a while, but it seems very well made. It was advertised as being constructed of "memory steel". I do a lot of my ham radio outside, camping or boating or doing disaster relief work so wanted something that wasn't going to fall apart a couple of weeks later. First impression: Very good. Durability ... we'll see after a couple of months.

While not a genuine Signal sick, it works just fine. I miss the glow in the dark tip of tge original, but thats my preference, not a gig against the antenna. Once I tried BNC connections, there was no going back. Being able to quickly remove the antenna from the radio is the t*ts. Buy some BNC adapters and check them out for cleanliness ( signal ). Makes throwing your radio in your kit easy.

If you're a fan of the GiSnal :) Stick, this is very similar. What I actually prefer about this is that it is slightly slimmer material around it and it doesn't have a glow tip on it. I knot it in a circle and it comes out straight every time. Signal seems great.

SWR no better than 2.0:1 anywhere on the band. My Yaesu factory rubber ducky yields 1.2:1. I purchased this antenna to improve performance not worsen it. Total waste of time and energy.

The tip on the end of the antenna came off within minutes of using it. I put a piece of red heat shrink on it and it works fine.
