This is a great set for any artist really. Especially if you are doing anything digital or scanning. The grey-scale card can be useful if you are taking digital photos. If you take a spare photo of it at your photoshoot, it makes post-processing so much easier. It really helps to be able to color balance in particular. If you are scanning or photographing physical art to turn it digital, if you can fit it in the frame, it can really help to color balance as well. Love that it all fits on the lanyard and that the lanyard doubles as a measuring tape. I have it hanging off of my paint cart, so it is right there when I need it.

Great set of essential tools for the painter, configured especially for plein air. Heavy duty plastic value scale (with those convenient peep holes), color wheel, and view window with grids. All three are punched for attachment to the included lanyard which is conveniently inscribed with a metric and English ruler. Very convenient. Also included is a regular view finder with sliding shutter labeled for standard aspect ratios - 8x10, 11x14, 9x12, etc.

This is a handy reference for painters or photographers. I love the lanyard - it's well designed and makes is easy to use the cards. The sectional one is divided in quarters - thirds would be better but you can use it that way too by blocking off a quarter of it, so i suppose that makes it more versatile. The value chart is great when working from black and white photo references as well.

I picked this up mostly for the grey card. I know it is helpful for finding value, but it is also helpful for including in the first of a series of photos for grey point reference. I was apprehensive because I never found a statement in the description on what these are made of, but I am happy to report than they are in fact flexible plastic, not cardboard. They should last well. The lanyard provided has the unique and thoughtful addition of inches plus metric ruler. It also has 2 clasps and a clip! One interior clasp will allow you to easily thread it through something (like a pallet) instead of being limited to draping over the top. A second clasp attaches the strap to a ring and hook - so you can quickly un-clip the card to hold up or hand to someone for a photo. Or just use the clip and remove the strap altogether. It is very nice to see how many options they provided for use.After writing all the things I like about this, I ended up changing my score from 4 to 5 stars despite the fact that I think it is a bit pricey.

Very disappointed. This is not a removable film on the viewfinder. The main reason I purchased this kit was because its viewfinder had a 3x4 grid, which works for my favorite plein air canvas sizes. 9x12 and 12x16. Sadly….i find this to be unusable. The rest of the items appear to be fine if those are the items of most interest to you tho.
