Looks cheap, feels cheap, sounds cheap. Tried it in a cigar box, single string guitar just to check it out, and it all but fell apart. Lasted about 3 days before the magnet fell out of it.

I was really curious about what this pickup was.I've made, collected, and written about cigar box guitars and have seen many pickups like this available online. Even though the pickup is described as a humbucker, I don't think it is. It is, however, very well made and evenly wound. Even at higher volumes, there wasn't a hint at microphonic feedback. That's a good thing. It even comes with mounting screws. The intended way to install this pickup is to drill a hole in a cigar box (or whatever it is you are using) and sink the coil with connecting wires down into the box. The thin wooden top (looks laser cut) would then be screwed onto the face of the cigarbox and a string would be pulled tight over the pickup. As fat as the coil is, I suspect two strings could be strung over the pickup without a problem.Having said all that, I don't plan on using this pickup in that way. My plan is to build a set of tone wheels like an old Hammond B3. Tone wheels are just another way to have a metal object undulate back and forth over a pickup. :)

I installed this in a hollow tube and went to play the other night got no sound and found that the pickup body had fallen loose from the wooden mount. Simply gluing the pickup to the mount is not enough to support the weight of the coil and magnet. Will reinforce and attempt a fix but thought the maker should know. If you reinforce behind it on your install should be ok but don’t expect it to be able to hang freely in the air. Sounds awesome when it’s working! Will buy again and will reinforce before install unless the manufacturer improves design first!
