This thermostat works perfect for us. The display is easy to read and it is programmable. We were able to install ourselves. The AC guy was going to charge $155. Keeps the temperature where we set it.

It appears to work fine but it keeps telling my unit to use heat instead of cool. No troubleshooting with the company so I’m stuck with having to replace this one. What a waste of money!!!

Soyez prudent.

After returning home to a cold house from a long trip, I found that our very expensive touchscreen wi-fi thermostat wasn't working. I needed to get something quickly in order to get the heat turned on, so I ordered this unit with next day delivery.Installation was simple using the included printed instructions. We have a Carrier heat pump with emergency heat, and this thermostat worked perfectly. When installing this for a heat pump, you'll need to know whether your reversing valve is energized during heating or cooling. Most are energized during cooling, but you can easily find this information by googling this for your particular heat pump brand. Once you have this information, you connect the reversing valve wire to either the O (for cooling) or B (for heating) terminal on the thermostat. This sounds more complicated than it really is.I didn't use any of the programmable features, as this was just a temporary fix until I can get a replacement OEM thermostat, so I can't speak to the ease of programming, but for setting simple heat/cool temperatures, it was very easy to use. This programmable unit was only a couple of dollars more than the non-programmable version, so I got this one in case I need to use it again longer-term.

If you don't want or need a "smart" thermostat but want programmable settings to fit your lifestyle and cut heating bills, this is the ticket. It has a large, easy to read display, and compared to other programmable thermostats I've used over the decades, this is quite easy to program and change. Be warned, installation could present challenges, such as, slightly different spacing of mounting screws from your old thermostat. Oddly, the simplest legacy connection, a two wire red-and-white heat-only setup (wires labeled R or RH and W) turned out to be a major headache. The setup is not covered in the Installation Manual, but the logical guess is to connect to the RH and W/E terminals. Didn't work. After debugging that everything else was working, I posted a question on Amazon. Within hours, the seller responded: "you need to connect RH- W2 to realize the traditional thermal mode." Too bad they couldn't have just included this in the manual, considering how common this arrangement is in older homes. But kudos to the seller for the quick and correct answer. Good thermostat, good value, good customer support. Recommended.

I needed a quick inexpensive thermostat to test my recently-repaired heat pump system with suspected faulty thermostats. Basic thermostats at this price are not typically configured to operate heat pumps. This one is specifically designed to do so and controls 2-stage heating. 1-stage cooling with or without auxiliary or emergency heat (controls one or the other, not both; I hope I got this right?). It was just $31.99 (USD) (+tax). If it included automatic switching: heating-cooling/cooling-heating, I would leave it installed as my primary thermostat.Powered by the 24V transformer (requires a common (C) wire), or batteries only, or both, with the batteries acting as a backup power source. The batteries are held in the front, just behind a swing-down panel. Programmable: 5,1,1 (weekdays, Saturday, Sunday) or none (hold), backlit display (no always-on option), filter change reminder, 50-2000 hours, temperature offset (never understood this feature), compressor 5-minute lockout, and others. Running the wire took forever, but installing the thermostat was easy and quick.Could improve: Difficult to separate the unit from its wall plate. I used a butter knife. The supplied drywall anchors are weak, relative to the force required to separate the two halves. Use a plastic pry bar or butter knife, or risk pulling the whole unit out along with the screws and drywall anchors. This happened to me on one side. Replaced anchor.Overall: 5 stars. An excellent thermostat for under 35 bucks. Ordered on the 6th, arrived on the 8th.

I like that it lights up because my old one didn't. The down side is that the up and down buttons get stuck sometimes and the temperature after you set it and walk away can keep going up on its own. I just have to make such the buttons pop back out after I press them. Other than that seems to work fine.

It works, but there's a minor problem w/ the wiring diagram.I emailed support, in a few days 'they' replied; by then I had used a 'solution' I figured out.Their reply said to do what I had done.So far no problems other than the schematic discrepancy.I had to call a repairman because of a different issue but not because of the thermostat.I've had it >2 months, It is a good deal for $32US.The only real issue is common to Chinese products, a lack of digital support.I would buy it again.EDITED - 01/14/2021OK, this was *not* a problem w/ this product, just a cautionary note.I *thought* I have a "heat pump" but it turns out I only have an AC.So I had a problem where the breaker would trip when I tried to use heat.I called a repairman to help w/ this since it got pretty cool here (south Georgia). He told me that the way I wired caused the e-heat AND the AC to both come on.That tripped the breaker so it had to be re-wired.The issue is the schematic, AGAIN.So be sure it is wired correctly. It's still a good deal, just be aware the schematic may be a problem.
