Had bought strips to test well water before and after water softener and iron filter. Almost useless as u can't really judge the color variations based on the result on strip versus comparing to the set colors on bottle within timeframes required with any significant accuracy. I mean u get a general idea but just not "satisfying". However, with this test system, u do get much more accurate readings. In fact, my experienced local plumber who installed my new water softener and iron filter indicated he uses this same brand to test water for clientele. Following the test process and getting accurate hardness and iron results helps me determine settings on both softener and iron filter to adequately treat my well water and not waste water or salt. Based on supplies, it costs a couple of $$ for the 2 tests. After several tests and setting my filtering properly, based on results, I will only test every 3-6 months to judge well water changes. Happy customer!

Test kits are fine. Ridiculous to cancel my order after 30 days of waiting with absolutely no updates along the way. Get off Amazon if you are unable to fulfill orders or even follow up with people

I've been waiting for almost a month now and it was scheduled to arrive and this morning I got an email saying the order was canceled. Now I have to try and get a refund as I don't see one being processed. I've used this actual product before and it works great, but be weary on buying it on here.

This is a great product that gives you accurate results quickly and at a reasonable price. Our vacation home is in coastal North Carolina and we suffer from pretty horrible well water. Many thousands of dollars later, we have a reasonable treatment system. Before the Hach kit, I was pretty much relying on very simple tests and the word of the dealer that installed our system that the water coming out of the faucet is doing okay. Twice a year I'd send samples to a professional testing lab, but this gets expensive, and it's not the sort of thing you can do frequently. Most of our water problems are iron and hardness, and I've learned thing like simple tests or inexpensive TDS meters don't always give you helpful results. In contrast, the Hach kit gave me reliable readings that agree within a few percent of what the professional lab analysis says. In under five minutes and with minimal fuss, the reagents in this kit give you a good feel for water quality.Definitely worthwhile for anyone living with questionable water quality and wanting peace of mind.
