This handgun safe from Tactical45 is pretty good and very easy to set up. The instructions to set the combination are easy to understand.After installing the batteries, I was quickly able to get it all set up. The door is spring loaded so as soon as it is unlocked with either the key or the button combo, it pops quickly open and you have full access to the contents. It has a very generous amount of room inside. I have a full size 10mm S&W auto pistol plus several clips and there is room for more.I like that they provide two keys to manually open the safe. I like having a spare for peace of mind. The button pad only has 4 finger keys, which makes sense for quickly being able to locate your hand onto the pad and enter the unlock code without needing to see. I would like to have maybe had an option for a 5 key pad because I would find that easier to remember my combo. Minor thing and the 4 key option is probably better in the dark.I did knock it down to 4 stars because I would have thought there would be a better or more solid mounting option. As it is designed, it can be screwed onto a floor or wall, but not easily. And even if mounted, with a swift kick the thin metal would easily bend enough to release the entire gun safe from the screws. This safe is great for keeping handguns secure from casual access (kids, etc) but don't consider it as protection from theft.Overall, I am very pleased and can sleep better knowing that my gun is secure.

This pistol safe is great for keeping little hands off of things that go BANG!We all know (most of us anyway) that children and guns don't mix well and you should never leave your's out where they can get to them. For that matter, keep them out of sight and out of reach for unauthorized adults too.The safe itself looks pretty good. Seems sturdy enough to keep all but the most determined adult from gaining access.Comes with a set of keys and some screws to mount this to something solid so It can't just be picked up and carried away.The push button access is easy to set up and operate. It does require batteries though and those do not come with this. They should though.This is not fireproof and a detertmined adult with a hammer and a screwdriver can easily get into this but then again, if you needed a 'real' safe this probably would not be your choice. That said, something like this is handy to have around.I see this as a good deal and easily recommendable for those needing something secure but easy to access. Glad I got it.

This is a solid and sturdy safe that you can mount in a secure location to store your pistols. However it seems the interior is poorly designed for this to be used as a quick access safe unless you've got tiny hands and are storing a sub-compact pistol.As for me, I've got fairly large hands and my standard carry is a Model 1911. When I tried to put my 1911 into this safe, I hit the non-removable center shelf with my knuckles. Luckily, I didn't hit it with my 1911 which likely would have scratched or scraped it and I'd be leaving a much different review.I will probably end up mounting this on a shelf in the closet or somewhere else in the house where I might need to store a pistol but it certainly won't be considered quick access.

The purpose of a lockbox like this is to keep children or others from having easy access to your firearm. This unit does this very well. I'm not exactly sure why the box is tapered the way it is but it works well. The code is easy to set and fits two handguns very well. When the code is entered, the door opens with authority. If you don't want the middle shelf it is easy to remove as it is held in place by two rubber plugs. Just pull the plugs and slide the shelf out. One feature I really like is that you can arm the safe and if someone attempts to carry the box away an alarm will sound and it is quite loud. Also if the wrong code is entered three times an alarm will also sound. The beeps on entering the code can be muted if desired and it is easy to unmute if desired. Make sure the emergency key is kept in a secure place such as your keyring. Don't leave the key where a child can find it. Overall, this is a very nice gun vault and it works very well for its intended purpose.

Includes: Safe, Keys, Screws for MountingPros: Safe appears to be well built and is secure. Interior is lined with foam and as described has space for pistol. Safe is programmable from 3 to 8 digit combination. Safe is fairly quiet when opening which is nice.Cons: There is a bare metal shelf sitting right smack dab in the middle of the safe that under no circumstances can you remove. Why is this a problem? It leaves little to no clearance for your firearm when inserting or removing. No doubt this is something you are going to bang your firearm on when removing in the dark or in a high stress scenario. IMO I want quiet easy draw, no loud CLANGS. I can barely a pistol in without banging the shelf and in test scenario was using subcompact, M&P Shield 9. Not even going to try anything larger.Use of this safe will be relegated to my closet for use with things that go poke, slice, burn, or electrocute, outside of that I would not recommend for any firearms storage.Rated 2 starts because 1) its a safe and 2) its secure.
