I don't know why, but I have lost every stud finder I have owned. I had a HART Pro just like this, and yes, I lost it. But the thing was by far better than others I have owned, so I ordered a replacement.Two things:It really IS the best one I have owned, andYes, I did find my lost one as soon as this one was unwrapped and set up. (Don't mind having a spare at all).

I like it a lot. It doesn’t require calibration like the old style stud finder. It’s easy to use.

This definitely picks up studs, but is a bit erratic. As I am the one who installed the studs, having to place them sideways rather than the conventional way (an exterior wall-don't ask), I can't figure out why it sometimes only shows the 1-1/2" when I am positive it's 3-1/2". Also picks up electrical wiring that is really further away. Still, it has done what I needed

I had some racks installed in the ceiling of my garage. You need to hit the joists there dead center or you have an unsafe installation. This it the stud finder the technician used. He recommended it highly. I've bought, (and thrown away) several other stud finders, expensive and unaccurate. I'll be keeping this one.
