A push-to-open latch gives a cabinet a clean look. Compared to similar latches that use magnets, this latch is more secure from accidentally opening, e.g. during an earthquake. This gadget comes sealed in a small bag with microscopic printed instructions for three versions of a completely different device. There are no other instructions included! We have to go back to the Amazon page to find any reasonable instructions but they are still confusing. For example, the slider comes retracted into the holder with the pin removed and it is not obvious at all how to even release it. Since the "jaws" are closed in this position it takes a lot of force to push the pin into place. After that, we can push and release the lock and the shaft extends. It would make much more sense to ship it with the shaft extended. After figuring everything out, we actually look at a well made device with good spring tension and reasonable travel. The design is well thought-out and functional, with an alignment tab for installation and a little wheel to fine-tune the opening later. It come with nice stainless screws and even a sticker that can be placed on the cabinet door as a reminder how to open the latch. While the hardware is great, my main problem is the documentation. A sheet with reasonable instructions must be included to explain how to release it from the initially empty parked position, the meaning of the alignment tab, and how to install and adjust. It is not sufficient to offer instructions on the Amazon page only, because we might not have access to that when installing in the field.
