This adapter is like a multi-tool for various laptop interfaces! This one adapter had HDMI in and out, VGA Display out, 3.5mm headpone out, and a 5V 1A source. Wow....this thing is handy in a lot of applications that would normally require multiple adapters. Very nice!

If you have an older model monitor with a standard VGA connection and need to attach it to a newer PC, this adapter will allow you to do it. This adapter may not have the circuitry to automatically correct for monitor display rate (which I believe impacts compatibility between monitor, through the adapter, to the PC). When connecting to a Dell Laptop, I had to manually make an adjustment (as shown in the photo). At the end of the day, though, this item worked. And, it's nice and compact -- perfect if you don't want to invest in a large sized docking station.

I needed some way to use an older video monitor that only had VGA input with a small box computer that only had HDMI video outputs. It would be an advantage if any adapter I found could also extract audio from the HDMI stream, since the computer only had headphone audio outputs.I was dubious about this device since I'd had problems in the past with audio splitters either not working or not being recognized by the operating system; but I thought this device might just work. And it does. This little device, and it is little (see photo) worked perfectly. It was easy to setup, not really any reason to read the included instruction. One edge of the box has a preinstalled HDMI output cable that attaches to your computer, a power port (cable supplied, you need to supply the 5V USB type A), and an audio output jack. The opposite edge has the VGA video jack to attach a cable from the adapter to your monitor. There is also an HDMI jack on this edge so that you can send the HDMI from your computer to another HDMI device; so essentially the adapter acts as a one-in/two-out video splitter as well.On your computer, you need to make sure that your audio settings direct the audio to the HDMI connector on the adapter and not to your line-out or internal speakers. In all likelihood, your OS will detect this automatically. The audio being sent through the HDMI connection will be split out by the adapter and sent to your amplifier through the supplied audio cable (1/8" male plug on each end).So I was surprised and happy that this worked perfectly. Highly recommended if you have a similar computer/monitor situation.

This HDMI to VGA & HDMI Female Splitter will connect to a VGA cable AND also connect to a HDMI cable.A lot of newer computers only have a HDMI port for connecting an output. If you have a VGA Monitor you can use this adaptor/Splitter to connect the VGA cable and not have to buy a new Monitor. Another use is to use this splitter to connect two monitors to the computer, one HDMI and one VGA. VGA monitors are really dirt cheap and it is handy to have two monitors.I have another Adaptor that I have beem using to connect my VGA Monitor to my Mini PC. It is cheaper than this adaptor/Splitter..... BUT it does not have a Splitter function. The Splitter function offsets the higher price.I recommend getting this HDMI to VGA & HDMI Female Splitter even if you do not plan to use the Splitter function..... I have a HDMI to VGA Adaptor sitting in my spare parts box because I did not envision using two Monitors.

I primarily got this to connect an HDMI in the computer to a VGA monitor. This did not seem to work. The monitor could not register a signal so not too confident with this one.

It doesn't work for me, and I think it's unlikely to be my Beelink sub-micro box computer running Ubuntu. When I plug it into both Beelink's HDMI ports, my display immediately starts switching between the two virtual windows at half-second intervals. While it's not claimed to support Ubuntu, all other accessories that I bought that also didn't claim Ubuntu support worked without problem.I'm rating it as two- stars rather than one-star, due the small possibility that it's my computer and the likelihood that it a defective unit.

I ordered this device to connect my laptop using an HDMI output port to an older monitor that uses a VGA input port. I plugged the device into the laptop and then connected the VGA cable to the device output and to my monitor input. It didn’t work. So, while the VGA cable was still connected to the monitor, I ran an HDMI cable from the other output port on the device to my television and that worked. However, I don’t need a device to connect from HDMI to HDMI. I needed the device to convert from HDMI to VGA. I’m going to dig up some more cables and try to find a tv that has a VGA port so that I can rule out my equipment, but I’m not optimistic. This gets two stars because the HDMI does work. It doesn’t get the other three stars because the VGA doesn’t work. If I find that I’ve done something wrong or that I need to adjust video settings, I’ll update my review.

This works great to adapt my Nintendo Switch HDMI output to fit an older VGA input Samsung computer monitor. The device has to be powered, but it can be powered by the Swtich dock. My monitor doesn't have speakers, but I was able to get audio from a portable speaker using the audio output jack on the converter. I tested it with an older but much higher quality Sony TV that has the option for VGA. Both the converter and the audio worked without issue. For fun, I tested it on my PS5 and PC. It also worked fine. Keep in mind that the PlayStation doesn't have traditional audio output. The HDMI Splitter works, and if the HDMI input source has audio, then there is no need for the audio jack.
