So, I'm really on the fence with this product. I love a couple of aspects: One, It is very hefty and feels like it would be super difficult to break. Two, It's also extremely portable the way it folds up. And there's even a holder for the lock so that you can wrap the holder around one of the bars of the rear rack, or your handlebar, or one of the metal loops that is under the bicycle seat. But, the button that you need to pull out in order to remove the lock from the assembly when locking or unlocking the bike, is really really hard to release. My nails are neither long nor strong. Just today, I ripped a nail trying to release that button. There's hardly any room between the button and the frame of the assembly. And, I need to carry a screwdriver or a knife around with me in order to open that button. If the seller could include something like a knife or screwdriver THAT IS ATTACHED to the holder (so that it does not get lost), this would be a five-star review.

This is the best lock on the market for e-bikes. There has been as rash of people stealing e-bike batteries. I got this lock to wrap around my battery compartment and attach it to my friends bike. I haven’t had an issue since I got this, people seem to move on to the next bike. It’s extremely well made and heavy.

Solid, foldable and easy to use. The size is just right to store it in my e-scooter bag. Everything is included to attach it to the frame but I prefer to keep it in a bag. Highly recommended.

Got back into biking recently and picked up a used bike. Obviously a bike lock is a first consideration; this one drew my eye because it folds up nicely and looks sturdier than locks of a similar footprint. It is indeed a solid build; almost all-metal construction aside from the number wheels and the pull tab to unlock it. It is quite heavy, as you would expect, but I wouldn't say it's a problem unless you planned to carry it on your person or you're counting by the gram. It comes with a plastic case that you can attach to your bike frame to store it when not in use, and the case has a stretchy closure that holds it securely in place. It slides in and out of the case easily, and also unfolds very smoothly, so no time will be lost trying to fight with it.The lock attaches to the end of the "chain", and there's a little plastic knob on one side that you pull out to open it after putting in the combination. As others have noted, it is a little thin (second photo shows it sticking out on the side), so it would be hard to grab with gloves on. It does not have basically any resistance when unlocked though, and I was able to pull it out with a gentle grip. A fingernail would work just as well.As far as security goes... well, there's always a way around every lock. I think any would-be thief could bust the combination or could probably cut through the bolts holding the pieces of the chain together. However, there is something to be said for novelty--it's a unique design that they wouldn't be expecting and they might not have the right tool to cut into those narrow gaps, so while it may not be as secure as other more solid-metal options out there, I think it would be enough to get someone to switch to an easier target. ("You don't have to be the fastest, just not the slowest," as they say.) It comes with the benefit of being much more compact than more secure models, odd enough to require some extra thought, and can also loop through more parts of the bike so that you don't get piecemeal stealing, so I think the trade-off is worth it and puts it somewhere in the middle of decent security options. Obviously, if you have a very expensive and/or eye-catching bike, I'd probably invest in one of the more cumbersome locks that's basically impervious to anything except hardcore power tools. For the average person, I think it's a solid pick.

SECURITY: The first measure of a lock is how well it secures a bike.Resistance to cutting 4. It will not be as secure as a U-bolt lock as there is less metal to saw through. And despite being thicker than a cable lock, its rigidity actually works against it. I recently had to zaw saw through a cable lock and because it flexes easily, cable locks are a little tricky to cut through. The cable tends to vibrate back and forth as the saw blade bites, which a rigid lock won't do. Thus this lock will be as easy to cut as a thinner cable lock.Locking mechanism 3. I trust keys over combinations as a lesser skilled person can feel a combination, compared to the skills and tools required to pick a lock tumbler. But combination locks still deter most everyone and are more convenient. The challenge with this combination lock is it only has four digits compared to a less tempting five on many locks.EASE OF USE 4. The lock is easy to wrap and fold, and in some ways even easier than a cable lock which springs back. It's length also makes it more versatile than a U-bolt. But as some noted, the mechanism to pull and open the lock can be a little tricky to grab, particularly if wearing gloves.STORAGE 4. I'm not a fan of additional things dangling off of my bike. Thus this lock score well as it's easily the most compact heavy duty lock. While it doesn't fit in my standard saddle bag, it fits in larger bags as shown. The only other locks fitting in a saddle bag are a short thick cable lock or a longer skinny one. Why not a five - weight. It's heavier than even the thick cable lock, which after spending a lot for a full carbon bike matters a bit.PRICE 4. At $39.99 at the time of this review, it's a decent price.All-in-all this a lock I'll trust when leaving my bike for extended periods. In a risky location I may pair it with a Ubolt for maximum protection For a quick stop in a safer area the skinny cable lock it lightest and most convenient.
