I have had many gate closers over the year, many that worked terribly or just ripped out of the gate due to poor design.This one actually works and is simple to install. Tension adjustment takes a few tries to get it set properly

I added slats on my gate to keep my dog from jumping over. The added weight only allowed the gate too close on it's own to about 45 deg. I put this hinge on and it closes fast and with some power

I have been using this now for a few months. It is very strong and works well, except sometimes it seems to get stuck and the friction of the coil keeps the spring tension locked. I end up having to open it all the way and then letting it close a couple times. Lubrication doesn't seem to have fixed it long term. I have it installed outside on a gate.

Have to say, I was never able to get it to fully close the gate. When I used a wrench to make a tension adjustment, the coil seems to have come undone and now it doesn't work at all. Disappointed.

This gate closing mechanism is remarkably sturdy. Made of heavy metal, it can easily close practically any type of gate - wood, vinyl or composite. It can also be adjusted by tightening the spring mechanism.

The product works well overall. Your gate and fence must be flush for it to work well. I had a gate that wasn’t quite flush, so I had to screw on an extra piece of wood to make it work. That was a quick, easy fix.

Once mounted with tension adjusted to close the gate, albeit vey slowly, I opened the gate to almost 90 degrees and it bent the spring a bit. Now the gate doesn’t close all the way. The tension spring doesn’t even touch the pad mounted to the post any longer. Not worth the price given the lack of closure.
