Your cart is empty. The Heil PR40 microphone boasts the widest frequency range of any dynamic mic in the Heil PR series. The PR40 incorporates Heil's sage-like understanding of phasing plug placement, along with the use of a very large (1″), low mass diaphragm, and custom magnet metals housed in a specially designed microphone body. The PR40 diaphragm is shock mounted such that it is completely de-coupled from the anodized Champagne matte-finished steel body. In addition to dual mesh screens, each made with different diameter screen apertures, there is an internal breath blast filter on the diaphragm element itself, providing superb response for the human voice across the entire vocal range, without “popping” noises. In fact, the PR40 will provide a flawless, smooth, flat response from 28Hz all the way up to the 18kHz, making this a great microphone for everything from vocals, to bass drums and tom drums, to guitar and bass cabinet micing and more. In short, the PR40 is known by professionals as the “thoroughbred workhorse” of professional sound recording and reinforcement. The PR40 is available in black, black with a gold grill, champagne, gold plate, or chrome plate. It ships with a mic clip and a leatherette carry bag. A windscreen is available to purchase separately.

I've had a variety of mics over the years (Shure SM7B, Electrovoice RE20, Electrovoice RE320, and several others) The Heil PR40 sounds the best to my ears with a richness and clarity that all the others lack. Excellent mic!

Item arrived but the manufacturers seal had already been ripped off the mic box. It was sold as new, but was not.

I've been using the Heil PR40 for over 10 years and have found it to be the best dynamic microphone for a studio setting available. Over the years, I've purchased around 15 of these mics for client studios we've built and for personal use. It's brighter and more articulate that the EV RE20 or the Shure SM7B. You will need a pop screen to reduce plosives and I recommend using a small screen (as opposed to the larger Nerf-ball type covers for the entire mic). The PR40 is a real unsung hero of mics. It's solid, fairly priced and sounds very good without a bunch of EQ. There's a reason that Sirius-XM bought a bunch of these for all their studios....it's a solid performer right out of the box!All in all, you won't go wrong with this mic and Heil's customer service is outstanding if you have questions.

I like the compact size of the microphone. How I sound with this microphone is a little different. After using a Shure SM7B and the RE20 and I love how I sound with those mics.
