I had so many recipe cards - my own and my Mom’s - that my old wooden box just wouldn’t hold any more, but I wanted an attractive replacement, and this fills the bill! Plenty of room for more detailed categorizing, and the dividers are sturdy and colorful. (5 1/2 x 7 boxes are sort of scarce, too!)

I have a really gorgeous antique Globe Wernicke file box that works for my 4 x 6 recipe cards.I have been looking for something similar for my 3 x 4 recipe cards. I don't use them often because they are from my grandmas and great-grandmas (I've rewritten the ones I use all the time). However, I wanted to keep them in something other than a plastic shoe box in the closet.I've had this in my cart for a while and decided to go ahead and order it because I started cleaning out closets and trying to get the house organized.This arrived in perfect condition. The magnets work well and I can easily open/close the box. I am happy with the construction and feel of this box. The divided sections means that I can sort recipes easily. The plastic dividers are sturdy and a bonus. There are a LOT of them!!!Is it the same quality as my antique box? Of course not--but it doesn't feel flimsy at all. It didn't permeate the house with any funky toxic smells. The hinges seem sturdy but I wouldn't open it with out supporting the lid against something else. The best part is how lovely it looks next to my cookbooks.It seems like a lot of money to spend on a recipe box and I helped justify spending that much because I was helping preserve some family history. I was worried about ordering this but I am glad I didn't talk myself out of it.Very happy with this purchase!**********************************If anything happens to change my mind, I will come back and edit my review.

Well constructed and large enough to hold hundreds of cards. The built-in dividers help it stay organized when it has just a few cards in it

The tiny hinges are wholly inadequate for the weight of the lid! The tiny screws popped-out the very first time I opened the lid. I might return it but am considering if, since I'm the only one complaining about this in all the reviews, that maybe I just got a defective one with loose-screws to begin with? I might try filling in the holes with wood glue and remounting the hinges to see if they'll hold better.EDIT: I have decided to return this. I tried looking to see if I could find sturdier hinges but couldn't; then I tried looking to see if I could find some sort of "catch" to help take some of the strain off of the hinges, but I couldn't -- in doing so, I noticed that 2 of the screws on the other hinge had actually had their heads stripped/rounded-out! This tells me that what the seller sent me was a repaired product, which fine whatever but I shouldn't have to deal with a crappy repair! This is a poorly-built product with poor customer service -- look elsewhere!

This sturdy wooden box is great for recipe cards! It’s got wood dividers that will support different sections and keep the cards organized well. The included plastic tabbed dividers are nice and can be labeled. They fit comfortably and you can easily move them around as needed. The box is perfect for my needs. The only negative is that my box arrived with a split or gap between the boards of the lid. Otherwise it’s a good product and I recommend it.
