Collar should fit snuggly just below the dog's ears, measure the circumference of dog's neck and add 2 inches.

This collar has a button with a plastic cover which slides. Major problem is that the plastic cover slides off when the dog is wearing the collar... then the collar comes off the dog. I thought the first time was a fluke but it happened a second time. NOT SAFE!!!

It does the job about keeping the dog in line on a walk however, the clasp is not easy to use. I thought it would be like a collar clasp but you have to slide the tongue into the clasp and cover with plastic cover that falls off. For the amount of money ($80) , it's really a stupid clasp. So as our rescue dog has gotten bigger, yesterday the collar fell off again. Did you know that there is a prong collar attachment that you can buy to put prong along with regular collar. Is that stupid? I had to do it. I can no longer chase a 100 lb puppy down the street.

Make sure you get the Herm Sprenger and not some cheap imitation. It’s the first collar/harness I’ve used that actually seems to help me control her. I worried about hurting her, but the minute I put it on, she behaved. I think she was trained by a former owner with one.

My AKC affiliated dog trainer recommended this collar. My dog is a Service Dog and wears the collar when she is working. It is essential for our relationship because when she is wearing the collar and vest she knows she is working and not the independent thinker she is when she’s just being a dog.Highly recommended.

Be careful with black plastic quick release cover it could come off easy and lost in no time. Collar other than cover is well made and easy on and off. Good for big dog.
