Higgins is a classic ink brand that's been around since the 1880's. This India ink is nice and dark, and waterproof as well. I like to draw illustrations in this ink, then use watercolor over it, and this ink will not bleed, it's completely waterproof. It will not fade either.***A very useful tip I've learned through much experimentation and research:- Pigment-based ink is waterproof, doesn't bleed or get blotchy. Best for clean lines, using with mixed-media (watercolors on top of it once it dries), and it's archival quality (meaning it won't fade over time). This India ink is pigment-based.- The other type of ink, dye-based ink, is NOT waterproof, it WILL fade with sun exposure, and it can get splotchy (unless there's a shellac mixed in to make it less splotchy and acts more like pigment-based in that sense). This ink is also good if you like to use a brush to paint it, as it spreads out like watercolor and you can dilute it for that effect as well.(Both types of ink have their benefits and different strokes for different folks. I use both depending on what I'm doing, so there's no right or wrong, just different characteristics depending on the artist.)

Muy buena tinta para mis plumas fuente, tiene un negro bastante profundo, no como otras que a contra-luz cambian de tonalidad.

i have looked a long tome for a substantial india ink. i used to use carters, and could never find anything of equal quality and viscosity. this will give a slight raised appearance as carters did, but not as glossy as carters. this is a really gorgeous deep black thick outlining or showcard ink. i am really pleased with it.

If you happen to own an Ackerman fountain pen (ackermanpens.com), this Higgins ink works very well in those pens. And whereas I prefer Speedball for it's thickness and ability to hold fine lines, it doesn't flow in my Ackerman fountain pen. I added back one star for the fact that the Higgins ink works well in that pen. Also because I like diluted ink washes, and so I can us this ink up, that way. But I won't likely purchase it again. What I am not perfectly happy with is that this ink is too thin and watery for tight, controlled lines. I would not recommend it, except to fill in large areas of black, or where messy line work is acceptable (sketches or loose drawings), never high detail, thin lines or fine hatching.I was excited to try this ink but it did not meet expectations. It is very wet and while it is very black, and very permanent, even while using a crow quill nib it's difficult to get a finer line than even using an extra fine fountain pen nib.Leaving the bottle open for a week didn't help much, I was hoping that it would thicken the ink enough to use with steel nibs but it just didn't do it.Aside from that I really like the bottle shape, it helps discourage accidental spills and it's small enough to pack and take around, it also has an eye dropper in the cap. I'm going to keep the bottle after the ink is gone and use it with another brand of India ink.

In school, long ago, I learned to use a fountain pen. That was no mean accomplishment. I am left-handed and in order to position a fountain pen correctly on the paper, I have to go through all sorts of contortions.I have been using a drafting set for years, and it has always included pens into which you have to drop the ink. Finally, I decided to see if I remembered how to use this sort of pen. What a payoff. Even at the start, there were no splatters, and I learned that you can adjust the width of the line on these pens. Clear, crisp lines and circles, and I did them by hand.Higgins was the best choice. Some of the other inks offered have no dropper, and it's a very good idea to have the dropper in the cap for the bottle. Much neater. The ink flows with just the right viscosity, and does so evenly.More so than ever, we develop unevenly. We use calculators instead of thinking about math. Printers do a fabulous job, and you can be creative in the selection of fonts. They don't give you the sense of creation that simpler methods offer.
