The finer thread gages have a severe truncation so there is almost no form there to use. I had to use an optical comparator to use anything under a 1mm pitch.

This instrument has a bunch of blades (qty 28) for measuring a defunct std of measurement which is Whitworth. There are zero measuring blades which address the SAE threads per inch thread system. I wasted my money.

I really needed a tool like this to measure thread count (or pitch) on various bolts. Although the "blades" are a bit short and can be somewhat difficult to handle, this tool is very practical.
