4 Steps to Diagnose Old Ignition Coil
Step-1: Test the kill switch
- Attach multimeter's one probe to kill switch wire, other to ground.
- Flip kill switch off; if resistance changes, switch is good.
Step-2. Remove old spark plug
- Remove spark plug from cylinder
- Then reattach it to spark plug boot.
Step-3. Check for Spark
- Ground spark plug electrode on the engine block.
- Pull the recoil starter, check for spark.
Step-4. New Spark Plug Test
- Install a new spark plug, repeat Step-3.
- No spark means the ignition coil is bad.

It looks to be decent quality and just like the orginal. It fixed the no spark issue from the orginal coil that failed. I have used HIPA branded parts in the past for different things and rarely do I ever have issues with them. I would say they are the better brand in the budget Chinese aftermarket parts world.Time will tell how long it lasts, but if it fails I will update the view.

Worked amazing right out of the package, quality is everything to me and it felt durable, and was well sealed. I could do without the fancy chrome plug cover, but i just took it off. spark plug that it came with worked great also. waited all day for this and prayed it worked! fixed my crank no start issue on my Ariens Zero turn with the single cylinder 16 HP Briggs.

Bought it to replace the coil on my lt2000 craftsman mower. Does not fit as it’s upside down. Wires on wrong sides. Had to return and buy another

It worked and still is but the wire was shorter than the original and had to reroute it that took making a small cut in a metal piece

Bought this for a Swisher Rough Cut mower where mice ate the old coil. This one has a heat sheath on the wire and a shield on the spark plug boot. I installed it and used some directions from another product where you use the business card to set the gap when you spin it around to the magnet side. Pulled the cord and it started. I was back in business. Ran for several hours so far without incident.So this got the job done and was quite inexpensive. I hope it lasts.Recommended for a quick fix and hopefully a long term solution to rotted and chewed up coils.
