After the ice cream has been made, it is kept frozen by turning the button to “Cooling Only” mode, preserving the quality and flavor of the product. Reduces unnecessary freezing and defrosting processes.
First, pour different flavors of toppings into two separate bowls, then, turn the button to ice cream mode, manually turn the knob to stop after the ice cream is formed, and finally, enjoy the delicious ice cream!

Very easy to prepare and let the machine do the rest. I don’t think you can buy the good taste of homemade! And what I like the most is the savings you get when you don’t have to go to the store and buy your ice cream. Saving money and saving your time!

Good ice cream maker. It is pretty big, so consider the extra space needed for using and storing it, but then it can make two bowls at the same time, which is a great advantage for a large family or even for a regular one as one bowl is barely enough for a family of four. This unit has its own compressor which means you will be ready to eat ice cream right after it finishes the cycle. Something I would change is adding an auotmatic timer as other machines have. This one needs to be turned off manually when the ice cream is ready. Overall it is a solid machine if you like to make your own ice cream at home.

Did not work from day one. Called the company several times over a couple of days and no one answered. Machine would not get cold.

The French vanilla custard ice cream came out perfectly soft served just like Milwaukee style Kopps ice cream! I was very impressed with the machine butThe instructions are truly terrible. What’s most annoying is that it reads like a science geek trying to explain discrete math and quantum mechanics to a 12 year old. It’s impossible to simplify what’s written here for the average user.The ice cream recipes are equally sparse yet far better. Perhaps because there was less to explain, but who measures heavy cream in grams instead of ml (milliliters)?

I thank all the previous reviews. I am very happy with the HOMTONE model: ICE-1560Y (DS-1138). I was intrigued by a PBS Scandi Cooking episode where Andreas made Honey Ice Cream with a similar machine. I have recipes from many sources to guide my base custard making and flavor experiences. Don't look to the included recipe book for your only ice cream learning. It is a nice touch but very basic.
