Very nice, hard to find a single adapter that works on all three of my trailers… My SeaDoo Switch takes a 5 prong flat, utility trailer takes 4, and my Airstream needs the 7… very clean and easy… Very happy with it!

I tow a car behind my 2019 Georgetown Class A motorhome and also have a bike rack mounted above the tow bar. I needed both 7-blade (for the towed vehicle) and 4-pin flat (for the lighted license plate bracket on the bike rack) connections. This Hopkins 48470 connection does exactly that and replaces the Pollack 7-blade connector installed by the motorhome manufacturer.Installation was fairly straightforward after watching several online videos. The instructions tell you to match up the wires to the Hopkins connector based on function and not the color of the wires themselves. In my case, the colors on both my motorhome and the Hopkins wires had the same function, so this was not an issue for me. All in all, it took about 30 minutes from start to finish to cut off the old connector and install the new one. I used an electrical tester to make sure that all of the functions worked as they were supposed to.

Rugged and easy to install. If you have the ability to Tin the wires before screwing them in makes them last a lot longer! I brush a little dielectric grease on the connections and inside if that helps anyone out. Keeps corrosion to a minimum. Plug fits great and door has a nice strong spring to keep everything closed up tight when not in use

I tow a trailer with electric brakes, and another trailer with hydraulic surge brakes. The trailer with electric brakes uses a standard round 7-way connector, and the trailer with surge brakes uses the regular four wires for tail lights plus a fifth wire connected to the tow vehicle backup lights. The surge brake setup requires having a brake lock-out solenoid for backing up, and the extra wire requires a total of five wires, i.e. a flat-5 connector. This Hopkins connector exactly fits the bill. I don't think there's another one out there that does that. This connector's mounting design and hardware is great. The metal bracket has mounting holes to accommodate mounting vertically or horizontally. The bolts attaching the connector to the bracket are hex-head, and the heads are held captive in hex shaped recesses molded into the connector, making mounting easy. The electrical connections at the rear are protected by a separate plastic cover which slides onto the connector. This allows access to the wiring connections after installation by sliding the cover off without having to completely remove the connector from the vehicle. Comes with silicone grease for corrosion prevention. Great design and good quality. I highly recommend it.

Replaced my John Pollack Connector 9-Way Car End 12-907 which only lasted 12 months before it would drop current and the door snapped off. This replacement unit was easy to install and many times more robust .. still plastic ... but rigid and thick and heavy - holds 7-pin plug firmly. It still has relatively thin and not exactly robust electrical connectors but overall substantially more durable than original for only a few dollars more. Have not had the opportunity to test the 4 and 5 pin portion yet but it was internally wired making it no additional effort to install than if it weren't there. HIGHLY RATED. Quick ship and simple to open packaging. Included dielectric grease. Mounting bolts were too short for my application (only 3/4" long) and due to the thickness of my mounting bracket needed 1 1/2".

I used this to replace the old grungy connector that was on my truck. It works perfect and I like the nice clean look of it.Wiring it does require a bit of effort and patience however. It's not a design flaw, it's just that working with 10 ga. and 12 ga. wire can be difficult in tight spaces. Don't strip the wires any longer than necessary and bend them into shape before inserting into the terminals. I had to do it twice before it all fit. I doubt that this issue is unique to this connector, most are probably the same way. When I wired it to my truck, I cleaned up the amateur rat nest of wiring. With the old connector and wiring there was 9 volts at the connector. With this connector and new wiring, there's now 12.8 volts.

I like this connector for the fact that it covers all the basic connections to a trailer that I may need and eliminates the need to carry an adapter plug to go from a 7 way to 4 or 5 flat. The unit itself seems to be of pretty good quality, and the only reason that I downgraded it to four stars instead of five is the design of the rear housing / strain relief which is held on by two plastic tabs that are prone to breaking. The first one I received I had to return because one of the clips was broken. Not a big deal since Amazon makes returns super easy. The second one I got was fine, but during the course of the installation, I had to remove the rear housing, and even though I was being careful, I ended up breaking one of the tabs while removing the housing. Something to be aware of, but certainly not a deal killer since this is the only connector I could find that had a 5 flat connector combined with a 7 blade standard trailer connection.
