This kit was easy to use and excellently constructed. I decided not to use the crimp on butt connectors because I have my own preferences, but everything you would need it in the kit. I had about three feet of extra cable to the battery on my JL Sahara.

Quality seems to be good. Jeep does not make routing the wires easy for you but not bad. Took longer than expected to install due to routing the wires. Overall it is working so far.

This Curt trailer wiring package gets the job done. I mounted the box inside the drivers side tail light area as shown in the picture. The top allows it to be farthest from any elements, water, dirt, etc. Make sure you run the green wire to the passenger side over the heat shield. It is just long enough for that and not long enough if you don’t. I had a piece of metal I was able to fish it through with (a straightened metal hanger will work too). The pigtail for the trailer connection was also run above the heat shield and out right at the hitch. Just removed one bolt holding that up and snick the wire in. The power wire was run to the front along the passenger side through the frame. I used a hole at the rear and it ran right to just behind the front tire and straight up to the battery. There was about 18” leftover cable. I did swap out the butt connector for heat shrink connectors which I already had. It would be nice if they were included. The spot were the paint was sanded down a bit for the ground, I did cover after connected with a bit of spray paint to reduce the chance of corrosion. I have used Curt hitches and wiring on a few vehicles and will continue to.

Simple install on a '18 Jeep JL. My suggestion would be to have a testing device. They're cheap $5-$10 & will confirm your install if your trailer isn't handy.

THIS IS HOW TO ADD HIGH-MOUNT LIGHTS TO YOUR Jeep JT / Gladiator.Sure, you can use it for the "intended" purpose (adding a trailer plug to your vehicle), but I was looking for a better way to install high-mount Brake / Running / Turn / Reverse lights to a Fire Fleet unit. Plenty of wire to run back to the Headache Rack, and the factory-installed wiring harness never has to have wires bared.Think smart / work harder ! :-D

I had originally planned to wire in my own trailer hitch wiring and bought all the wires, sockets, etc. to do it like the old days. When I went to do it, I realized that some newer model cars won't work that way because of the LED tail lights. I ended up returning everything and bought this instead.I should have just started with this. It ended up costing about the same and it was pretty straight forward. It took me about an hour of really taking my time, fussing around in the garage. If I was in a hurry, I'm sure it could have been 20 minutes or so. The instructions for the Jeep Wrangler JL say to run the power line up to the front of the vehicle, but I just tapped into the power outlet (cigarette lighter) on the left side. Just pop off the inside panel and it's easy to get to. There's even a rubber grommet behind it where you can feed the wire through from the tail light. The double-sided tape supplied to mount the control box was useless. I cleaned the with rubbing alcohol and waited for it to dry before attempting to stick it, but it wouldn't even hold its own weight. I had some 3M grey double-sided tape that worked perfectly. If you live in Canada, I would suggest spraying some paint over the area you have to sand down for the ground mount, just in case. It only takes an extra minute and could save some issues later on down the road. All in all, another good product from Curt.

My kit came complete with everything needed to wire my Jeep JLU trailer hitch. Trailer hitch not included. Installation took about 3 hours working slow and routing hot wire on the inside. If you prefer leaving hot wire outside under frame, you will probably save a couple hours. Instructions are a good guide if you are already familiar with running a trailer harness. I watched a couple videos prior to install and was able to install without much problem. Removing interior trim pieces is the most time consuming but not hard. I routed hot wire through fire wall on drivers side because there is a removable firewall plug(automatic only). I drilled a hole in the plug( automatics only)and ran wire across to the battery. I used the jeeps own different wiring clips and channels to keep wiring neat. Plenty of wire is supplied. Plenty of zip ties are provided if you prefer. Again, watch videos and get familiar and it will be without problem. I tested with plug in trail hitch tester and all was good. Everything you need is in this kit except tools and hitch. I suggest panel removal tools (5-10 $) if going with the interior install. I think between 10 to 13 mm sockets, Jeep torx kit and a drill for ground are the only tools I needed. Maybe a screwdriver for something. Make sure you have a 4 pin harness clip for hitch(not included) if you don't want your 4 pin connector dangling. Any problems I had were not related to the kit. Good value considering the price of professional or OEM parts and installation. Instructions could be better but I didn't even need after watching some install videos. I don't need to use my 11 inch traffic wands when trailering anymore!

I'm not sure why there are so many complaints about the installation of this kit. Took me about 90 minutes start to finish. Pop off two little covers in the back, remove two screws holding tail lights in, pull out tail lights, and unplug existing connectors. It's not hard and the instructions cover it well and with pictures. This part took all of ten minutes. The kit comes with connectors that plug right in where the factory ones fit. Then attach the ground wire (there are a few convenient body bolts in the tail light cavity) and use one of the supplied barrel connectors to attach the power wire. All the wires drop through a big opening in the bottom of the taillight housing. Run one to the passenger side and up through the same opening for the taillight. The longest part was running the wire to the battery...it's not hard, it just takes a bit of time to run it under the vehicle and zip tie along the way. Crimp on the fuse line and eyelet, then connect to positive. On my 2 door Jeep I had at least a foot of extra wire. The instructions were fine, the product works well, and the quality is good. Not sure what more anyone could ask for.

Awesome product everything worked and went together ok. I got a 18 2 door jl and everything went good I ended up running the black cable along the frame and up into the rear drivers side tail light with lots of cable left over so I think there should be more then enough for a 4 door. My only complaint was that the butt connectors they give you aren't heat shrink able so I put my own butt connectors on it. And the zip ties are really cheap as well so I ended up using my own for that. Other then that it turned out great. Thank you curt for making a good product.
