Sizing & Fit: The size description for a “medium” in the link fit my 16.1 hand skinny-legged thoroughbred (without measuring) just about right, in both width and height. These fly boots are a pretty solid copy of the name-brand version, without the price tag. Plenty of space with all the velcro aligned on his fronts (both brown legs picture), with slightly less room on his backs (white & brown legs picture), which was expected.Quality: I don’t expect these fly boots to last for years, since even the best ones don’t. But, these have a similar quality and structure to the more expensive version my horse currently has, which have barely made it through one fly season, so I’m hopeful to get a year out of them. My horse is a sweaty boy, and I feel these are light and airy enough to keep flies away without overheating his legs. Hopefully they’ll keep the flies away enough so he won’t stop his feet and lose his shoes this summer!

The fly boots fit perfectly and they are good quality. They also don’t have any issues staying on.

Fly boots! My 15 hand mustang gets devoured by flies each summer. Fly spray isn't enough and she has an allergy to the bites so fly boots are a must. First thing out the box I was impressed with the added stitching and fabric to the base and top of the metal stays. The problem I've had with other brands is them popping out. These metal stays are also a lot thicker. I worried they'd be too thick but my horse got used to them really quickly and was trotting unencumbered. I love the added Velcro at top and bottom so you can make it tighter near the hoof to keep them from sliding down to far. My girl is pretty stout legged and these fit with plenty of adjustment room. If you have a smaller horse or pony though I'd go with a small size. I'm excited to see how these hold up compared to the other ones I've had that get worn out fast. I'll update if they break quickly otherwise assume they are holding strong.

I used to order the original name brand and they would last me more than one season. I started using these off brands because they were 1/2-1/3 the price. I have found that most of the off brands have issues including the stays are made of plastic and the fly boot slouches down and don't even last a whole season. The name brand has metal stays. These also have plastic stays so I am concerned they won't last long.Overall, I'd say they are pretty average, but slightly above average for an off brand. (The original brand is best)The medium size fits my 14 hand horse well. Some are too big and catch manure in them. The stitching and velcro is good, they seem reasonably well made but not up to the quality of the original fly boots.I may seem minor but I appreciate that they have their branding on the boot. If these last I can easily order more of the brand. When I have many off brands and one works better I never know what brand it was.I'd say these are average for an off brand. Definitely better than most of the other off brands but not the quality of the original. I have found metal stays make all the difference and these have plastic stays.

I haven’t tried the ‘sh-fly’ boots, so wasn’t totally sure what to expect with these fly boots. My first impression was the cool looking package. The boots seemed nice, but the proof is in the pudding. The velcro is sturdy. There is a bit of a learning curve for fitting them on the horses leg. Making them tighter at the bottom and looser at the top seems to work best. At first I wasn’t sure how the long piece of velcro would adjust with that set up. But it all seems to work together properly. I have to make sure there is no little gap along the long piece, but that’s easy. The stays seem nice, and the mesh is strong, but not overly stiff. So far, since I’ve found the right adjustment with the tabs, the boots stay up well and don’t drop (unless I don’t get the fit quite right). I’m quite pleasantly surprised at how much I like these. It would be great if the bottom of the boot had a softer material around the edge, but sometimes that stuff picks up burs, so I will just keep an eye out for potential rubs, as with all fly boots. I would say these are a better buy than some of the higher priced, similar style boots. I’m not sure I would pay this price again, since there are other styles that are cheaper. However, overall, I really like these. 4 boots in the pack, all the same size, fit on both a shorter cannon bone 15 hand cross breed, as well as a long cannon bone 15.2 hand Thoroughbred. Would likely fit a smaller horse or larger horse, but not significantly smaller or larger. One size fits all. My one suggestion would be some info on the packaging about fitting these onto your horse. That would be helpful. Oh, and yes, they definitely seem to keep the flies off.

I really like the idea behind The Sunny Zebra, and their equine models are really cute. I will look into buying a fly mask from them next time I need to replace my current fly masks. While I wanted to love the fly boots I received, I sadly do not feel like they are built as well as the old fly boots I am retiring after many happy seasons. The hook and loop (velcro) attachments feel flimsy and thin, and while my horse hasn't yet damaged a boot, I worry about long term durability. The nylon at the bottom that rests over the hoof is smooth, but I would like to see that type of finish at the top of the boot, too. The fabric edges are uncomfortable for my skin to handle even for the short time it took me to apply the boots to my horse's legs, and I worry about irritation if she were to lie down and rub it against her skin while napping. So far, these boots are working, and I do see less flies landing on my horse's legs when she wears them. Due to the construction, I have concerns about how long the boots will last, and if they will hold up for an entire Texas summer. If I am proven wrong at the end of the season, and I hope I am, I will update my review!
