  • Leopardite is a variety of quartz porphyry containing small phenocrysts of quartz in a microgranitic groundmass of quartz, orthoclase, albite, and mica. The rock has a characteristically spotted or streaked appearance due to staining by hydroxides of iron and manganese. Jasper is usually considered as Chalcedony; sometimes, however, scientists put it in a group by itself within the quartz group because of its grainy structure. The name jasper is derived from the Greek and means "spotted stone".
  • Jasper is one of the forms of chalcedony, which is opaque and impure variant of silica mineral. Leopard Jasper is reddish tape in appearance and it is redolent of a leopard skin. Hence, sometimes it is known as leopard skin jasper. The alternate name of Leopard skin jasper is Jaguar Jasper, as it represents the appearance similar to the animal family.

I read the other review that all of them were the same, but hoped mine would be different. I got really small rocks (would be ok for earrings - that small!), and mine were also the same rather than any variation. Returned them, sadly: I would have loved to have even one good one.

I only gave 4 stars because the description says multi coloured however, as you can see in photo mine are all the same colour and not a very nice one at that.In terms of the quality they’re great I’m just not pleased in the colour choices.
