This is a small lightweight multimeter (MM). It is a different kind than I'm used to using. Our lab at work has the expensive Fluke MMs, and I have a couple of cheap little MMs for use at home. With all of those, when you want to measure something, you switch the dial to define it (resistance, AC Voltage, DC Voltage, current, ...).This MM, however, is different - When you use the probes, it automatically detects AC or DC voltage, and if it detects none, then it measures the resistance. You can't measure current, however. Interestingly enough, it does have a "non-contact" voltage (NCV) detection. If you press and hold the NCV button, and then put the very top of the MM (not the probes, the top of the device itself) near a wire, if there is voltage on the wire, it will tell you L or H (low or High electric field is detected). This seemed to work on a power cord to my lamp, and on my USB C cables.I tested a couple of resistors, and the MM readout matches the other ones. The DC voltage looks good as well. It also works as a continuity tester - beeping if there is very low resistance (Then manual gives the accuracy and specs - e.g., it can only detect AC/DC voltages as low a 0.8V (and as high as 600V).Note that this multimeter requires 2 AAA batteries - they are not included.

Review for: HT Automatic Digital Multimeter - Auto-Ranging Voltmeter - Electric Meter Tester Tool Smart Measurement - Non Contact Volt DC Amp Meter Tester Digital Voltmeter for Ac/Dc Voltage (Red) (Red)I found this to be an OK little meter. It is small, smaller than I expected. It does work though. Accuracy is not real good, but not far off either, just fine for casual diagnostic work. The non contact sensor was able to tell me which side of an AC outlet was hot (I already knew). I have never used an automatic meter like this and find it OK, but the lack of current/amp testing puts me off of this meter a bit. This meter will live in my truck's "emergency" kit. The flashlight may well be useful in situations where I may need this meter after dark.If you only need a voltage and resistance meter, or something to throw in the toolbox but not worry about ruining an expensive meter, this will probably be OK. If you are looking for a quality instrument, look elsewhere.Would I purchase this meter? Probably not, I would not purchase a multimeter without current ranges. Still gets 5 stars since it does what is advertised.
