This is a decent model to to show how vertebral movement affects the intervertebral disc and surrounding nerve roots. A tool like this is invaluable for a Doctor or Chiropractor to show how a disc herniation or vertebral subluxation can cause pressure on nerves directly and indirectly. The anatomy isn't perfect but in my opinion that can be a good thing. The basic design of this model helps patients visualize the basic concept of a herniated disc. It doesn't matter if the proportions are off slightly.PROS:Good affordable valueEasily demonstrates a herniated disc and allows patients and this model is affordable enough you won't be afraid to hand it to patients to play with and experience themselves.Great tool for students, patients and providers alike.Seems durableCONS:It takes a little more pressure to create a "herniation" than you might think. This may make using the model with one hand a little more challenging for someone with small or weak hands. My model came with a very cool bonus poster/anatomy chart. Unfortunately it was folded in a square which left it badly creased.Overall this is a great value and if you're looking for an affordable herniated disc model that you don't have to be paranoid about . . . this is a great option.

This model is anatomically accurate and can be used to help demonstrate a herniated disc. However when used to demonstrate what the injury looks like it takes a substantial squeeze. When squeezed it only also herniates out of one side, regardless of how the pressure is applied. This can be a useful tool, however be aware that it does require a lot of strength.
