I read all the reviews of this winter hat before I purchased it. Some sent it back because it was too thin for them. Well, yes there really isn't a whole lot of insulation inside. But, if you're out walking around in the woods layered a bit and it's in the 20's or maybe even the teens outside do you really want a hat that is super warm. I don't think so. In some situations I hate getting too hot and then wanting to shed layers afterwards. So, for all intents and purposes I don't intend to wear this hat in an artic environment. So, for me it's perfect.

There is no way the reviews about this hat are legit. I have been hunter for a long time in the US north east and used lots of different cold gear. This is the cheapest hat I have ever seen, you can see through top of the hat and there is no insulation. It is very small(I have a typical head size), I should have figured for 12$ made in china. Save your money and time.

For reference, my hat size is 7 3/4, and this hat just barely fits. The hat is reasonably well made but the material is thin and may not last. Clearly not waterproof. Seems pretty warm. Stitching is mostly even. If I lived in a colder or wetter climate this would probably not be sufficient.

I took a walk last week in a forest in Pennsylvania that has been gripped by extreme cold for the last couple of weeks. The temperature was around 14 degrees Fahrenheit and had been for some time.While preparing, I decided to go ahead and bring a firearm on the off chance I saw some small game running around (not likely in the cold, but why not just in case). This meant I needed to wear 250 square inches of fluorescent orange visible 360 degrees on both my head and chest.Normally I use an orange stretch cap, and purchased this for guests that might want to accompany me, but happened to pull this one out first and decided to go with it. I couldn't have been happier! It kept not only my head warm, but my ears and the sides of face as well. The fur isn't just aesthetic, I also found it made a big difference for insulation. Additionally, the color (while slightly more peach than the rest of my hunting gear), met the orange requirements for hunting in my home state of PA. It was also breathable and didn't make my head sweat or become itchy.If you're considering a cheap hat that will keep you warm in the cold and work for hunting, this one did the job for me, no questions asked. Side note, be sure to buckle the buckle at the chin, I almost lost the hat a couple of times in a gust of wind.
