Bought it in February, lasted until May. Doesn't work at all now, when it did work it would get VERY hot.

This is a surprisingly good add on for a stereo microscope. The ringlight is usb powered, and has a power on/off and dimming function on the side of the unit. It is sufficiently bright for solder work. The killer feature is the polarizing feature. The principle is that there is a polarizing filter for the led lights - creating a polarized light source. And there is also a polarized filter to cover the microscope lens. The filters can be adjusted relative to each other. What this achieves is that very reflective surfaces can be dimmed relative to less reflective surfaces. This means that chip markings now “pop” and are extremely easy to read. Highly recommended.
