These are two tone mallets. Softer mellow tone and then a sharper attack sound when you want it. Nice!

The RS251's are simply fabulous mallets. First of all, the rattan shafts are not too thick and the balance is perfect. I use the Stevens grip and I actually cut an inch and a quarter off the ends. My rig contains about 8 sets of mallets and these are my favorites. I say this because I can use them as solo vibe (un-miced) and still execute different voicings, countetpoint, and single lines while still getting a sweet and full sound from the vibe keys. Finally, the chord is very durable yet extremely fast so it doesn't take long at all to break them in. The RS251 mallets sound great with just 2 (SM 81) mics. Buy and enjoy!E. Great for cutting through an group yet also delicate enough to play solo. The mallet supports the player creating a better overall musician.

Excelent mallets, with an articulate and resonant sound, great grip and good materials but one of them become with a damaged yarn
