I have an indoor digital thermometer and another instant-read thermometer and this new one gives a more accurate ambient temperature than the one I already had. I can't speak for the bottle opener because I didn't try it, but it looks like an afterthought rather than part of its intended design so I'd be wary about trying it - looks like it could break. The magnet works, it's there on the fridge when I need it. It's easy enough to use and I like the pen-style cover. Good product, recommended as a food thermometer but not as a bottle opener. $10 (at time of writing) is a decent value, cheaper ones tend to be less accurate like my old one.

Not a lot to add to the previous reviews. I followed the instructions - which I keep close by for the recommended temperatures for each kind of meat - for set-up the first time I wanted to use it, and so far, it seems to be working fine. Comes up with a temperature quickly (it seems right, and what am I going to use to check it's work), and it's easy to clean. After reading some of the other reviews, I've got it attached to my fridge by its magnet, but it's only a foot above the counter in case it falls, not five or six feet above the floor. It's the first food thermometer I've owned in decades, and I'm really pleased to have one, finally.

This thermometer has been a very helpful addition to our kitchen. I simply press the on button, stick in the probe, and wait until the temperature comes to a stop. I use it mostly for cooking meat and baking bread, and my food is cooked safely and deliciously due to its accuracy. I haven't tested how waterproof it is, but I know it is water resistant since I rinse off the whole thing every once in a while. I never needed to calibrate it or even switch it to Fahrenheit. It came out of the package ready to use.

I really wanted to love this slim instant read food thermometer, but, It came in Celsius and I had to change to Fahrenheit which NO easy task. The directions were horribly unclear, but after multiple tries, I was somehow able to do it. Then it said to calibrate the thermometer.... I didn't really like having to do this either, but I followed those directions - it comes within the same range as my other temp probes, but I really felt it was an ordeal. The backlight also does not automatically go on without pushing another little button for backlight and hold - This makes it tough when working on checking in an open oven without having to remove the food. Its not as handy as hoped. I would also trade out the bottle opener for a guide for food temps on the back of unit. Just me - It works, but I am not a total fan

Well there’s not a ton to say about a thermometer but this digital thermometer is definitely and upgrade to my old style analog thermometer. This digital one gives me a temperature in just a few seconds as opposed to waiting and waiting...and waiting for the old dial style to tick upwards, slow down, then maybe tick up again. This one is battery operated (included) but easily replaceable with a standard watch battery (size CR 2023). It has the normal thermometer cover/sheath with a nice little clip that I can conveniently clip onto my apron in between temperature readings. The temperature window is backlit making reading temps super easy, even for aging eyes. Some of the features include a magnet and bottle opener, both of these, however are lost on me. I didn’t find the magnet to be super strong for long term hanging but I suppose it may be helpful if you were to set it on the metal shelf on the sides of most grills, so that it wouldn’t blow off with a gust of wind. I suppose the bottle opener would be good for the fellas standing around the grill talking but again, this feature does nothing for me.The directions are a little frustrating when it comes to calibrating and changing the readings from Celsius to Farenheit. Overall, I’m happy with the upgrade to my temperature taking while cooking.

This thermometer was mis-calibrated and almost two degrees off. Although it does have a self calibration feature, performing the calibration steps throws a calibration error because it’s so far off in the first pace. So there’s no way to calibrate it - in the garbage it went.
