The Mikki matt splitter for small dogs is just the right size for my small dog who has a coat that is fine and prone to matting. As soon as I find a matted area I can use the splitter to quickly get rid of it without having to cut knots and matted areas out. I have another matt splitter by a different manufacturer which is bigger. The Mikki is by far a better size and the one I use all the time. It seems sturdy and feels like it will last. Delivery was quick and product well packaged.

As someone who grooms her Japanese Chins at least once a month this Matt Splitter is a great addition to my gooming box. As with all long hair dogs (and cats) cutting a matt out with scissors is not alway possible; but this Interpet Mikki Matt Splitter will cut most small matts with ease. Super safe to use without worry of harming your pet with sharp, pointy scissors.

If you look carefully at the design, it is basically a style of letter opener. It does work well to split mats, but you may be able to find a similar product at a local store.

I bought this because I am trying to remove matts from my dogs armpits. I thought it might be good for tight spaces like that because it is so narrow. However, When the item arrived, it stated in the instructions that is was not intended for sensitive areas like ears and armpits. Oh well.

I would give the person who made it a Nobel prize if I were to decide. It esily cuts through the knots. My Persian cat had been terribly neglected at a cattery when I was away on holiday. Her hair on the chest, under paws, behind the ears and on the tummy was all felted. I had to cut some off, by all means. But saved a lot of length using this small and very helpful tool. It is also very gentle, cat didn't mind it.

One of my two Siberians, a medium-long haired breed, constantly has matts. He doesn't really enjoy being groomed for more than a few minutes, so getting them all out before they get too big used to be stressful for my cat and frustrating for me. No more thanks to this little tool - it cuts out any small matts easily, quickly, and - most importantly - without risk of hurting your beloved pet (and subsequently, yourself...). This is a great example of how a little gadget can really make life a little easier for relatively little money.

I got this for my Cocker Spaniel who gets matted fur under her front legs and ears often, it works great for matts that are small but it doesn't work if the matt is close to the skin. She sits still and lets me cut them out. It's safe to use, there is no danger of cutting your dog unless you dogs if jumping around like a looney lolIt has a red gripper pad which is very good and stops it slipping out of your fingers. The blade is very sharp and doesn't take much effort to cut through a matt of fur.I find it very easy and comfortable to hold. The only reason i rated it 4 stars is because it doesn't work on matts close the skin and because i don't use it that much anymore, i have to use scissors on my dog (but she lies there and goes to sleep whilst i cut out knots and matts, so i can take my time and there's no danger of me cutting or hurting her)I recommend this for big or small matts, and for the matted dogs who don't sit still long.Good price, fast dispatch and delivery... Thanks

So I have a cat that has both long-hair and a tendency not to groom itself very well. So I bought this item thinking that it might help with the odd mat that she gets. It's essentially a box-cutter for pets. So did it work?In a word, no. For one thing, her mats end up more like nodules of fur - dense and almost impenetrable. For me, at least, it will have to be scissors and patience, it seems. However, the major complaint I have about this product though, is not that it wasn't suitable for my particular cat's mats. The problem I have with it is that it is totally blunt. On opening the packet I thought to try it on my own hair, so I took a few strands, stretched them tight and tried the recommended "sawing" procedure to cut through. Well, it worked... eventually! However, fearing that the blade might be less than sharp, I then tried it on the paper instruction sheet. Again, it cuts if you work at it. But otherwise, it was a blade so dull that I was able to stick my little finger in and run it up and down without ill effect.I guess I may have just got a dud one, so I'm not too fussed. Especially as it doesn't suit my cat anyway. Or maybe it was a return that found its way back into the supply chain.Either way, not impressive. It's a manufacturer that I'll be avoiding from now on, cheap or not.
