This 950nm IR floodlight came with its own plug-in power supply and mounted easily. It turns on at dusk and off at dawn. It provides adequate illumination to about 30 ft or 10m. It is truly invisible to human eyes but provides plenty of illumination for the Amcrest 4K camera system. We review overnight recordings of the deer and other wildlife visiting our back yard. Fingers crossed it last a good many years!

Even the description calls out "CMVision IR50-940 IR Illuminator with 46pc IR LED Indoor/Outdoor Long Range 10-30ft 940nm Wave Length IR Illuminator with Free 800mA 12VDC Adaptor and 2.1mm DC Cable" And yet the " with Free 800mA 12VDC Adaptor " is not true. DO NOT PURCHASE IF YOU EXPECT TO HAVE IT INCLUDE THE POWER ADAPTER

Pretty robust illuminator that works well at 940nm and is totally invisible to the naked eye. It is strong enough for industrial applications, which is what we use two of these for.

Learned that my camera does not pick up 940nm light and only 850nm or below. It's a nice light, compact and totally non-visable to the neked eye in daylight or darkness, however just didnt work with my cameras.

For home users, the selection of 940nM IR illuminators is limited. There are offerings from Axis and Bosch that are in the $300-$600 range but who wants to spend that kind of money just for residential use?From all my research, CMVision appears to have the best selection and price value of IR illuminators... especially for ellusive 940nM IR. For those who aren't familiar, briefly - 940nM is invisible to the naked eye. There is no "dim red glow" often associated with 850nM IR. If you truly want to be covert in the dark, 940nM is the way to go.There is another review on Amazon regarding a different CMVision illuminator which stated that the area being lit up was fairly focused in a "spot". This is true for this model at 940nM as well. The reason being is the large IR LED's being used have a optical emitting end with a integrated focused lens. The LED is intentionally manufactured to have the IR focused into a narrow beam. From a distance of about 8ft, I observed a "hot spot" circle in the dark of about 2.5ft in diameter.For my application, I needed to spread this out as wide as possible at a distance of about 10-12 ft. Although not perfect, I was able to effectively illuminate an entire 12x12 ft room with the by modifying the lens as shown in the picture I've attached. While there is still a visible "hot spot" in the center axis of the illuminator, it is not a sharply defined circle any longer and the entire room is evenly lit.Since I am using this iiluminator indoors, I was not concerned about weatherproofing. I did leave the original gasket in place but I'd imagine if you want to seal the perimeter of the lens and bezel with clear silicone, you could achieve the same weatherproofing as the original glass lens.In summary, I gave this product 4 stars and only knocked off 1 star because of the fact it did need to be modified for any practical indoor use at it's stated 10ft range. Without the modification, the 3ft "hot spot" circle of IR illumination is only useful for IR cameras with a zoom lens for long distance close up viewing of a small area.
