I love the light weight of this Peavy. I cut my own wood on our property and that always requires some rolling or moving of the tree sections. I have a big multi-tool that works great at rolling the wood but it is really heavy. I dragged a lot of wood out over the summer with my Ranger and I used this a lot both in turning and cutting the trees into movable lengths and then again when I dragged them to where I cut to fireplace insert size and then split with a nice 27 ton log splitter. I highly recommend this tool. My wife even tried it.

gets the job done BUT the point on the hook needs to be sharper.

This peavey is great! It's larger than it appears in the picture, mostly because the handle is a beast. I've used it to turn several smaller alder logs and yesterday I used it to turn a 12' x 26" wet redwood log. I even was able to use it to partially move a 600lb piece of unwieldy piece of burl. Good product and I might get another.

The price was great. If a person is planning to make peaveys for a living, there is only one thing they have to know: the grain of the wood handle must be parallel to the hook, otherwise it may break off and result in the drowning of the user. The peavey gained popularity as the indispensable tool for breaking up log jams in the Columbia River in Oregon. The great price would be little consolation. I removed the handle screw, rotated the handle 45 degrees and reinstalled the screw. The volumes of safety warnings required by OSHA fail to mention this.

Simply outstanding. I had considered the 100+ (heavy on the plus) peavey from one of the major chainsaw makers. At a fraction of the price I figured I would give this one a try and if it didnt work then I would pull the trigger on the orange one. My initial impression was it is almost overbuilt (in a good way). The handle is very large, Louisville Slugger-ish all the way down. Assembly was one bolt, took all of 60 seconds. First trip out to the woods my city-dwelling buddies were a bit concerned when I dragged it out, even got a "what is THAT?" coupled with a step backward. They became believers when I rolled several 16ft sections of walnut after making the initial cuts...easy peavey (I couldnt resist, sorry).Seriously a great value, so far has demonstrated the durability expected from a forest tool. If you are on the fence about this jump on it while it is still priced the way it is.

The point of the hook needs some serious sharpening out of the box, but for the price it's not bad. Time will tell if it holds up.
