This IRWIN HANSON Tap and Drill Bit Set includes an HCS self-aligning plug tap and an HSS drill bit. The plug taps feature high-carbon steel construction and are great for general purpose threading, while the high-speed steel drill bits help ensure fast, precise drilling.

Drill and Tap Packs, include 10 - 24 Tap + No. 25 Drill. Black oxide finish on all high carbon steel Hanson taps with semi-porous matte surface that causes cutting oil to cling, carrying the oil into the cut more effectively, thus reducing the drive torque required and lowering cutting temperatures. Oxide surface-coating also reduces tendency for chips to weld to the Tap, resulting in lower cutting temperatures and freer chip flow to increase tool life. Irwin tools are made of only the finest materials, manufactured to exacting tolerances.

It seems I need this size tap on a regular basis. I typically get 12 holes before it starts to get really stiff.

Worth the money. I've tapped many PVC pipes and the mister heads can be hand tightened and do not leak. Just make sure to remove the debris caused from the drill to make sure it doesn't clog the mister.

This was used to tap into 1/8" thick 304 stainless flat stock. The tap threaded 3 holes and snapped 1/2 hay through the 4th hole. I used the supplied bit, lubrication and good tapping practice of cutting a few degrees and backing off to clear chips. The tap was not very strong. In my opinion drilling the hole one size bigger may help the tap last a little longer without impacting thread engagement.

It is great to have it as a combo product that way you know that the drill is matched with the tap. I had a bunch of hole to power tap and had no problems with it in the drill.
