We're in the middle of replanting everything AND starting a garden, and my knees were not looking forward to getting down on the ground to dig all the holes necessary. This took absolutely takes care of the job. It's easy to put together and using it is straight forward. One concern I would have is if it could stand up to the constant forcing being put on it, but the pieces are made of what looks like strong steel, so no worry that it might break. I just tried it on some older, hard dirt and it took some extra effort, but it managed to break through and do the job effectively.Absolutely glad I ordered this. It's going to cut my work time significantly.

Good sturdy device. Rotate it to cut a perfect size hole for your bulbs. If the soil is moist it may get stuck inside, I pushed it out with a stick. The teeth on the bottom do a good job getting the hole dug. I use it in fairly rocky soil, find it works well.

This is so easy to use and makes gardening so. much easier and faster. You just plunge this thing into the ground to remove some soil and plant your bulb right into place. The teeth on the cutter help do the job and the foot pegs are nice and tough when you need that extra weight for the tougher soil. Its made very well and feels solid. Cleaning is a breeze, just rinse it off with the hose and it functions perfectly normal. Great value for the money.

This bulb planter works great with normal soils. It won't cut through rock or hard clay, but you don't want to plant a bulb in that, anyway. The handles are strong steel, and bolt securely together.

I'm going to leave my old review below, but I had an epiphany today that made me come add this:I have built in sprinkler heads and a St. Augustine lawn. The grass grows by runners and they often grow over the pop up sprinkler heads which keeps them from popping up.A few times a season, I have to go out and check them all and cut half of them loose. Sometimes it can be hard to even find them under the grass.Today I got the bright idea to use this bulb planter. Maybe everyone in the world knows this trick, but it was new to me. The cutter fits right over the sprinkler head and i was able to just press down and twist a little and it cleaned each one right up! I couldn't even find a few, so I just turned the sprinklers on and then went a cut wherever the water was sputtering up. WORKED PERFECTLY!!! Took only seconds. And I never even had to bend over!Wish I had thought of this 20 years ago! They should market this specifically as a pop up sprinkler head tool. PERFECT!ORIGINAL REVIEW:Heavy duty, works great. It comes in 3 parts so you have to bolt it together. But that just takes a second and it's cheaper than the ones at the store. So if they have to break it into parts to ship it, then I'm more than happy to take the extra 60 seconds. Once bolted together, it's super heavy duty and solid.Welded study construction. The steps and the cutting head are heavy gauge steel and are NOT going to bend any time soon. Oh, and the size is good. I'm 6'1", and it was a good size for me. I didn't have to stoop or bend over too much, but it would also be fine for someone substantially shorter. It also worked well. I don't plant bulbs often, but we used it to plant multiple flats of colorful annuals. I was able to go open up hole after hole super quickly, and my wife followed behind dropping flowers in each spot. It went so quickly that it was almost unsatisfying. We did it so much quicker than digging by hand that it didn't feel like we did as much. The empty flats show the truth though.Good, heavy duty tool at a great price that does exactly what it's supposed to. 5 stars.

This bulb planting tool arrived quickly in good condition. It needs to be assembled before use, but that was very straightforward. The necessary hardware and small wrenches were supplied, along with a card that provided assembly instructions and instructions for proper use of the bulb planter. A bonus was a pair of protective gardening gloves. The planter is primarily composed of a good weight metal and feels quite sturdy. The best part is that having this on an extended pole gives me better leverage (compared to the smaller hand tool for bulb planting that I normally use) for getting a proper depth hole dug in the spots I want to place my bulbs. I live in New England, and that is often a challenge with our rocky soil. This tool really helps! Two thumbs up.

This thing is great! Way less bending and using a small trowel to dig and dig and dig. This planter tool makes easy work - all I had to do was give it two or three half twists and I was down to the level needed for planting bulbs and transplanting new plants. It's very well built and will last for years, if put away after use. I did not have to use the foot shovel part - even in our clay soil. I used it to get up some large weeds, which makes this even more useful. I can't wait to use it this fall to put in lots of tulip and daffodil bulbs! The only very slight drawback is that in my heavy clay soil, it did not easily release the soil; I had to tip the tool upside down, but seriously - as easy as it made the whole planting process, this was not really a concern.

I got this transplanter tool to reduce the time I spend on hands and knees digging holes with a spade. The tool is well made from heavy duty steel with solid welds and rubberized hand-grips and assembles easily. The manufacturer includes all necessary parts including bolts and 2 hand wrenches, but I suggest using a socket wrench if you have one. This really does dig holes much quicker by leveraging body weight to force the circular blade into the ground.A set of garden gloves was also included as a nice bonus. I don't know why I hadn't seen this tool before but I'm very happy to not have to crawl around on my knees digging with a small shovel any more!
