I make a lot of sauces, marinades, etc. and this is such a great product! It fits onto a standard-mouth mason jar with ring and seals it shut, but with the built-in silicone brush it's great for quickly adding sauce to whatever you're cooking! My only note would be that obviously you shouldn't use it on raw meat and then return a sauce to the fridge for storage, but it's awesome if you pre-make a sauce and want to keep basting something throughout the day.

This is a great solution to store things like marinades and sauces. Instead of having a separate brush, just make it part of the container? Good idea. When BBQing, I often oil meat or add a bit of extra sauce before it goes on the grill so it was nice to just bring this out and have it be it's own self-contained storage and basting "device" in one. The silicone bristles are good and hold onto sauce well, I wish the grippable part of the handle was a little longer for comfort but ultimately it's sufficient. As mentioned by other reviewers, I do wish this came with an option to have a jar included even if that selection was more expensive. The only spare jar I had that fit this top ended up being too long, so I up having to wait until I needed to pick up some new jars to use this.

This simple device solves a series of problems that come with brushing bbq sauce on meat while grilling. The first problem is where to hold the bbq sauce? I'll generally pour some in a small bowl, but it's impossible to judge how much you actually need, so you either run out early or end up wasting some. Second is where to put the basting brush, which is now covered in bbq sauce - even if you have a large prep area around your grill (which I don't), it is still going to make a mess. You can try to lean the brush against the side of the bowl, but it's always sketchy, and if the brush has a long handle then you still need a lot of space to make that work. This brush is great. It just fits into a mason jar (not included, but a 500ml jar is the right fit). The metal ring of the mason jar lid screws overtop to seal the jar. I made some homemade bbq sauce just to test it out, which I can now keep in the fridge, with the brush, and be ready for next time. The brush fits into the jar, which solves all those messy problems I mentioned. And zero waste. Just make sure to only brush it on meat that has been cooked, if you plan to store the sauce after!

I like to oil my items before placing them on the bbq grill so nothing sticks. This Jarware basting brush is perfect for coating everything before placing them on the hot sizzling grill, and basting throughout the cooking process.I usually mix regular olive, vegetable oil, and a little sesame seed oil, with salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, thyme, oregano, and smoked paprika. It’s a great way to season and prevent things for sticking to the grill at the same time. This handy little baster allows me to mix everything up, seal it, and store it in the fridge. This way I don’t have to recreate my seasoned oil mix every time I bbq. We had one Mason jar in our cupboard but it’s too tall. I’m planning on purchasing a smaller one next time I go shopping. My only consideration is that I’m not sure if I can purchase just one small Mason jar as they’re usually sold in sets of 8, 12, or 24 for pickling. I’m not going to purchase 8 jars just to use one…so I may end up visiting a thrift store to see if I can purchase a used one by itself. I do wish that it came with the jar and lid already! It would make things a lot easier! I removed one star because I’d rather have the jar included, even if it increased the price, than to have to run all over the place trying to find just one small Mason jar. That’s my only complaint!
