I thought these shaker tops came with the collar/band to screw onto the top of the jar, but they don't.I have wide mouth jars that are not mason jars (they're the jars from the large size of President's Choice Chocolate Hazelnut Spread). The jar diameter is 3.25", so I thought these shaker tops would fit.Well, first, the jars that I have are *just* a sixteenth or a thirty-second of an inch too narrow so that the shaker top doesn't sit properly on top.And second, these shaker tops don't come with the jar collar, so there's no way for me to affix the shaker top to the jar.However, if you have mason jars WITH THE COLLAR, and your jar is a 3.25" diameter, these shaker tops should work beautifully for you.And as an unexpected bonus, this set of 2 shaker tops ALSO came with 2 flat solid lids that can be used to seal the jars' contents. The lids are blue plastic. So if you want to keep the flour or sugar in the jar covered up between uses, remove the shaker lid and replace with the flat lid. You also need to use the collar to affix the flat lid to the jar.I would give this product 5 stars, except it never stated in the description that the jar collar did not come with the set, so I'm deducting one star because of my disappointment.4 stars out of 5

I wanted something a little larger for popcorn seasoning and I came across this set. I was excited when they arrived and initially impressed by the quality, but I started to look closer and there are things that are less than awesome. The sifter and shaker faces are well made. The holes in the shaker are consistently spaced and free from any burrs or sharp edges. The sifter screen is very fine and I'm sure will produce a very nice dust of flour or powdered sugar. The plastic rims are a little thick but well manufactured. a ring will thread about 2/3 of the way on the bottle with the shaker lid on, which is plenty to hold it securely. I'm not terribly impressed by the lids, however. The lids still have 'flash' from the injection moulding process that doesn't look good and makes me worry that it will come off and get into my food or the environment. The lid also won't really fit with the shaker lid under it, I really had to press firmly on it to get the threads to engage, and even then, it's barely on and I wouldn't trust it enough to turn it upside down. Having said that, I plan on using these more one-off, not to store the seasoning so the shakers are what I'm most concerned with. These will certainly do what they're designed to do, the lid could just use a little more time on the drawing board, so I wouldn't count on it being that functional. I'll update my review as I get more use out of them, should I encounter anything that warrants it.(And in case you're wondering, the jar in the picture has Halifax style sweet garlic Donair sauce in it; only mason jar I had in the fridge at the time! LOL)

This is a nice idea for the kitchen. When not in use they store flat in a drawer out of the way and don't take up a lot space as a specialty shaker would. These two lids fit my wide mouth canning jars and turned them into handy additions to the kitchen. I like to mix cinnamon and cocoa powder for my cappacino's and ususally just use my fingers to sprinkle it on. Messy! I mixed a couple tablespoons and put in th small jar added the shaker lid and viola, specialty coffee topping dispenser! The fine mesh top is perfect for the sprinkling of powder sugar on top of tiramisu or other deserts that need a pretty topping. The lids rinced out no problem and dry quickly. My husband liked the shaker top for applying his special blend of seasonings to his baked onions... Very handy.

These lids are a neat idea. They work great. I use the fine mesh screen one for dusting icing sugar on finished desserts and the larger hole one for sprinkling flour onto countertop when rolling out or kneading dough. Be aware of the size! These are meant for wide-mouthed jars which are harder to find and these lids do NOT come with the jars (this does make the item seem a little pricey to me without including the jars). They also come with a cover cap for storage but you have to remove the jar ring to add the cap, it doesn't just fit over top.

From this series of mason jar-toppers I tried the grater and zester set as well. Those were meh, okay and they worked for zesting and grating, but I didn't really enjoy them and I had the impression that maybe they wouldn't last long.These on the other hand - the shaker and sifter toppers - are great! They're simple, uncomplicated, effective, they do exactly what they are meant to do. Use them as a spice shaker for ground flax seed, or for dusting powdered sugar... mix some sugar and cinnamon for buttered toast, or fill one with fire cider and use the straining top to strain out the chunks. So many possible uses! And when you're done, cap it and store it. your powdered herbs stay fresh, your corn starch doesn't spill.Honestly I think this is one of the best products I've reviewed this year, and I want to get a few more of them!
