Even better, technical support is provided. The James Dean custom jetting kit is designed to improve throttle response throughout the range by using specially made multi-taper needles. These are based on the most popular settings used by new generation MX and off-road riders around the globe and the results are impressive. You can't buy this level of performance from the OEM factory or other aftermarket suppliers. JD's testing and research will provide the performance you need. Exceeds the performance of standard 2-stroke and 4-stroke jetting, and other factory needle options. Low and High altitude custom designed triple taper needles. Main jets included. Spare needle clip. Dyno tested. Developed and tested from sea level to 12,000 ft elevation.

This kit was easy to install on our CRF250x and made a huge difference. More so than I ever expected. The bike does indeed start easier, has more power, and is much much crisper. The change is night and day. This is money well spent!! I have the standard air box mod, otherwise stock.

Carb is spot on now. No guesswork required. Followed the instructions and it cured the carburation issues we were having with my sons 2006 CRF250X. Prior to this it would bog when you snapped the throttle open too fast like when trying to clear a log etc. Instructions were clear and easy to understand. Someone new to carb jetting may not know what “clip in the 4th position” means so it might help to know you count from the top down when setting the clip on the needle.

Bike was always hard to start and even more so cold. Never had to use the hot start and now I know why, it was way too lean. Bikes runs so much better through it's full range and very responsive.

Went from a mediocre crappy running machine...followed the instructions, went through the entire switch out and jetting (used the big one in there for effect)... and the CRF250x (2005) has a whole new lease on life!Oh this engine has a procircuit exhaust, and a few other things, so the bigger jet (than recommended for stock exhaust) was necessary.

I cant say enough good things about this product and JD's customer service. The kit comes with everything you need to rejet the bike to how we should be expecting the factory to do it. JD jetting had taken their time putting this kit together with all the data needed to jet your bike properly for your location and mods you have completed on your bike. You could go out and do this alone but JD has done the work for you with this kit. If you still have questions like I did all you have to do is shoot them an e-mail and they responded to me in less than a couple of yours with everything that I needed. Very helpful and respectful. If I ever purchase another bike I will be ordering this kit again.

The instructions could be better. Jet kits works great. Comes with the same #42 pilot jet that is in the bike, but its good to replace that every ~5 years. I had to remove the top two engine support bolts and partially remove the rubber EGR and crank case hoses in order to rotate the carb enough to get to the jets. You don't need a special needle valve wrench for 2007+. The needle valve will seat in the throttle slide once you move the throttle. Comes with an extra needle for higher altitudes (>3000 ft). Consider that Dynojet kit if you are only going to be at lower altitudes.

I bought a new 2012 CRF 250X in '12 - It looked great, but was an absolute dog to ride. It has never run well, and frequently not at all. It was hard to start, would not idle, popped on deceleration, and stalled constantly! Setting the idling screw did nothing. New plugs, carb adjustments and so on only made it worse.A dangerous consequence of such a poorly running bike was a lag or bog when you got on the gas. Sounds like a simple annoyance, until you're headed for a jump, get on the gas and it lags or bogs down. That annoyance quickly turns into a dangerous situation, as the front end wants to endo without proper power to lift the front end.I was mad and shocked Honda would sell something so bad. All the owner's manual suggestions did nothing but waste time. It was such an unreliable machine I actually stopped riding it. The dealer said bring in the bike for service for $300.00 to go through the carb, etc. Frustrated, I decided to sell it, but first, had to get it running or who would want to buy it.Extensive research turned up this to be very normal, "Out of the Box" running conditions for this bike. (And many others) Apparently, EPA regulations have so choked new dirt bikes down, they just don't run out of the box anymore. Everyone pointed to the same thing, JD Jetting as the solution.I bought them with little to lose, installed per instructions, cut the air box, (despite my concerns over cutting on my bike) and adjusted the fuel screw - I bought the finger adjusting fuel mixture screw.I was shocked. It started on the first kick. It idled. Didn't bog down on acceleration. Didn't pop anymore. I was simply amazed. It has never run like this. It's smooth, strong and finally reliable. I could go on, but jetting this bike is not a luxury, it's a necessity. JD is the best, and hands down the most recommended.I'm now going to keep the bike. I've stripped the emissions, replaced the pipe and changed the sprocket from a 14/53 to a 13/53. The bike just keeps getting better. Jetting the bike is doable for any backyard mechanic with modest skill sets. Just follow the directions, and you'll be surprised what a difference JD jetting will make.Highly recommended, if not required!
