New house had beautiful plantation blinds. Several were broken and I thought I was going to have to disassemble the blinds to fix them. Then I found these spring loaded plastic pins. Blinds look and function like brand new. And it took about 30 seconds to fix each one! Wonderful product!

I only needed one of the plastic pins to hold a shutter in place, and these were perfect! Even though you have to buy a set of 85 - it's worth it as I have more if any more break! Our shutters are a faux wood material.

I bought a house full of plantation shutters that I love! Unfortunately, a few of the shutters either had issues with staying in place when open or had a few slats that were broken from the main rod. I knew nothing about plantation shutters and thought I would have to buy new ones, paying hundreds of dollars for new shutters and installation.Behold! These little guys! After watching a short video on how to do it myself, I ordered this kit off of amazon and was able to repair my shutter slats myself with ease. I am not at all a DIY kind of girl, but these made the fix so easy that I am convinced anyone can do it.

One of our plantation shutters had a part installed incorrectly when it was new and the company that did the installation was supposed to come back out with a new part but never did. I forgot about it until that part of the shutter failed 5 years later. I started searching for the correct parts and found this kit. It worked like a charm and I was able to repair my shutter within minutes. I did have to purchase a set of needle nose pliers to remove the incorrectly installed part but that was due to manufacturer error at the shutter factory.

My little problems were that neither of them was a perfect fit and required some fiddling with our shutters. At the end everything came together, and I did not require any tools or drill out holes. just a touch of blue tac to make it a snug fit.

If this fits for you, it should be easy to install. I had it installed before I saw the delivery driver leave. But it kept popping out.My challenge is the length of the pin which slides into the blind. These pins are a *little* shorter than advertised and the rounded end is not usable because the blind can’t reliably use that distance. If your blinds have very tight tolerances within their frame, these may work well. But my blinds have about an eighth of an inch of play within the frame. The roughly sixteenth of an inch shorter than advertised plus any play your blinds have within the frame plus the rounded end at the end of the pin are how much you should subtract from the total length of the pin when doing your assessment of whether these will work for you.I cut one of longer, thin shafts off the skinny, rigid pins which come with this order and used it to replace one of the short, rounded pins - keeping the seat and spring. I was kind of proud of myself until I realized I could have just done this fix with the spring and button of a clicky/retractable pen. Put a spring in the frame and the button from the pen or any pin small enough to fit in the frame and blind but large enough to fully sit on the spring. For what they are, they seem perfectly functional, but considering the impact the incorrect dimensions had on my application, they are effectively useless to me. For these reasons, three stars seems fair.
