I was disappointed. This will probably be fine for books that you don't access often. I wanted to use it to put files in that are in process, would be accessed often and files of varying sizes. Extended, the book end loses strength. And if extended more than half way, it does not fold back up easily. I gave it three stars because, as I said, it probably is fine for books that just sit on a shelf. But for heavier, letter size files that can be 3-5 inches thick, it's not the best.

Along with my sleep log and other journal, I only allow myself one book at a time in my house because I made a rule for myself to read more often but didn't want to be overwhelmed. This expandable shelf is perfect being that books are different sizes and it nicely holds everything in place and doesn't take up too much space but expands when needed. Perfect solution for me!!!

I absolutely love this product! I bought some about 2 years back, and they are still going strong. I now have 3 of them, two for my bookshelf and one for my desk. I love the accordion style of it because of how it allows you to maximize the space inside and outside of the product. It holds all books big and small, and a huge number of books (around 15+ depending on the size of the books). If I ever need more I'm certainly ordering this again. As a book lover this is a complete life saver for the huge amount of books I have, and while the price made me hesitant when I first bought these, they are definitely worth it. Sturdy metal that doesn't bend or break.

Other then it coming with the a part of the metal bent in the back it still works. This wasn’t made to hold large textbooks like all the 1 star reviews are saying. It works perfectly for novels like for instance A Good Girls Guide to Murder, any books around the hard cover size work well and don’t fall over, the thickest book I have is The Priory of The Orange Tree which is more then 800 pages, holds it just fine. If you want something to hold larger books like textbooks you have to find something sturdier

I have such a mixed feeling about this! At first it looks so wobbly that I think I should return it! But once I put the books in, it actually works really well well and kept all the heavy textbooks together! It can also be adjusted to different width easily. It’s a good buy!

We had a stack of books and a three ring binder that was getting out of hand. This little gem organized them in 10 seconds flat. The accordian-like holder expands/contracts instantly when you add/remove a book so it always looks nice, and the books don't slither and fall. Nice bookends.
