To call it a gel shaker seems to be a bit of a misnomer. At least for me, I was curious if by "gel" it meant it was going to have some sot of soft/flexible structure. It ended being typical hard plastic, which wasn't a let down. The current picture for the shakers isn't necessarily representative. First off, they aren't black, but come in an assortment of green, red, yellow, purple, or blue. They are translucent so you can see the shaker material inside. The only drawback is really just aesthetic; because the material is translucent, the seam of the two egg halves is quite apparent.
