I bought these for someone who loves sharks and writing assuming they would come with ink, especially considering the odd color palette. When they arrived I double checked the description which does in fact say "Ink not included for safety", which is my fault for not reading, sure. But why can every other pen be shipped with ink but not these? If they offered colored ink to match these pens, I would happily give them a 5 star review, but there is just no way of finding ink to match. After receiving them I found out the ink that this company sells specifically for THESE pens is 6 black and 6 blue. Why not just make a black one and a blue one then???

These pens are cute but 2 of the 5 I got had leaking converters. I went over to get new converters from my local fountain pen store and NOTHING fits in these pens: no brand of cartridge or converter. They are now useless. I never should have bought these. Don't waste your money, buy Pilot Kakünos or Platinum Preppys if you want a good starter fountain pen.

Happy with these fountain pens. They use the plunger style so I had to learn how to fill the pen with a bottle of ink.Writes well, with a bold pen stroke.Only gripe is the lack of a clip. I bought a Spacepen Bullet clip which is working for now.Recommend as a fun way to teach kids about fountain pens.

I love Jinhao pens! For starters, they came with a tiny bit of left over ink in the nib. That means they were tested before they were shipped, which is exactly what you want. (This is why you should flush it with water before writing!!)Second, some times the nib can be a tiny bit scratchy out of the box (but not always). When it is, you can fix that with 6000 grit sandpaper. After that, it genuinely writes as well if not better than my expensive pens.Overall they’re easy to hold and super cheap — I work in education, so I don’t like taking in expensive pens that might get lost.

These are just too cute. They are pretty decent quality as well. They aren't too scratchy. They fill easily. I filled them with corresponding colors. The shape is a little awkward in the hand but nothing significant. I got them for the look and am not disappointed. Actually, pleasantly surprised at the quality.

I purchased these pens without much expectations as they are following me to work and any other places that I need to write something; I can’t stand ballpoint pens; and I don’t want to have people damaging my expensive fountain pens. Overall, the writing is smooth even on low quality paper and the converters have a decent capacity of ink. I paired one with the Hongdian ink and it’s a match made in heaven. I like them so much that I even bought another set of 12 in different colours. I spend so much time writing for work, pleasure and other activities that I always need a variety of colours at hand. The screw cap was tricky at first because my high end screw cap pens are piston filled, I was unscrewing the body instead of the cap but repeated use had fixed this wee bump in the road.

I have an old set of Jinhao Sharks that I really like. These are a little different. The new nib style looks a lot like a platinum nib from above (lack of breather hole), but are a dead-ringer for Lamy from the bottom and side. The converters look really similar too, which makes me think they might take Lamy cartridges, and that's why there are reviews saying standard and Jinhao cartridges don't fit. They're a lot finer than my old-style sharks, too. The old ones were more of a European , while these are about the same as a Japanese Also - the grip is round instead of triangular - the only real downside for me. They're not as comfy to hold. (Actually a littke painful for me, because I have some hand issues. Haven't had any problems with my old set)But they're a good writer out of the box - no skips, no hard starts, no burping, smooth and all - and the colors are nice. I just wish they had the old triangular grip.

For the price, these little pens are amazing. I have handwritten 20,000 words in the past two weeks in an attempt to finish a novel in the month of November, about half with these shark pens and half with my trusty Platinum Preppies, and while I do still slightly prefer the Preppy, these pens write smoothly and have stood up to the heavy use. They are also absolutely adorable and come in colors that match some fun inks; I got Pelikan Turquoise to put in the turquoise shark pen, and it's a perfect match. Highly recommend these as a casual, affordable everyday pen that can get thrown in a purse or backpack.
